A selection of Medicine Through Time materials. The clock activity gets students to reflect on the whole topic. There is a key person booklet where students add key details for each person in the history of medicine topic. There are key word and events cards from the public health section. These can be used for revision and turned into key chains. Or made into diamond nines. Or putting them in chronological order.

A timer that works well for spotlight and quickfire questioning. Choose one student to sit in front of the projected screen whilst other students then have a minute to ask as many questions before the Zombie moves forward and attacks. The screen flickers and the zombie moves bit by bit. This works well for a competition to see how many questions each student can answer. Comes with Zombie Sound effects which can be switched off if desired.

Timers give 1 or 3 minutes before they go off. The Volcano explodes with smoke and brimstone, with sound effects, whilst the iceberg melts away into the sea, the rain-forest timer starts a monsoon which ends after animals try to escape the rain and ends when the rain stops. These work well as hot seat activities, students have to answer as many questions or define as many key words before their time runs out.

First lesson in a SOW that looks at the Norman conquest. Students have to read the information about two of the claimants and then choose one to write a speech about as if they were that king and why he should become king of England after Edward the confessor. There is a writing frame for weaker ability students writing a speech as if they are William.

A range of music inspired timers. Each timer starts a concert in a specific genre of music. These can be used to time hot seating and quick fire questioning. These allow the class to be put into a bit of pressure and competition between students. Have used a rang of these timers in class to engage students and keep their focus till the end of the lesson. Place a specific song in the power point to match the genre for the full immersion.

This is the second lesson in the Norman Conquest scheme of work. Students read out the speeches (written in the previous lesson) to teach others about the four kings. There is an interactive poll for the lesson where students vote for the best claimant after the speeches to really create a NEXT factor experience. Once they have filled in either of the differentiated sheets students then have a go at a GCSE styled question with a writing frame with for weaker students. There is a Homework task included about creating a social media account for one of the claimants, there is a worksheet if students need help.

This lesson get students to think about causation and why William won at the Battle of Hastings. The main task is a card sort where students first put events in chronological order then attempt to make a diamond nine. Deciding which factors were most important. There is a interactive plenary or afl task included. There is a GCSE styled question with a writing frame to help those who struggle.

A year 7 lesson that attempts to build on historical source skills. This lesson works well after a lesson that looks at the tapestry in a bit of detail. Students use information from the previous lesson with the quick recap of the Bayeux Tapestry. Then as a class or as a solo task students go through the nature, origin etc to work out if the source is useful. This culminates into a GCSE styled source question. There is a writing frame to aid with writing. Include an interactive plenary where students vote using the Poll slide as to whether the tapestry is useful or not.

This lesson aims to get Year sevens thinking about sources and their provenance. Students use the card sort to work out the story of the bayeux tapestry and to then work out from the source how we know it supports William. The aim of the lesson is to be able to answer a GCSE source question. There is a writing frame included for those who need help with writing.

A selection of key words about the United States from the 1920’s to 1945. It cover the America Boom, Great Depression, New Deal, Second World War and more. All the key words have images to help prompt students. These are great for revision. I print them so that 8 are on 1 page so they are smaller. Then laminate Following tasks can be completed with them: - Students have to define key words given to them - Students have to group key words that link together -Students can write definitions of the back and test each other. - Give a table the whole back and time them whilst sorting them into groups of defining them. - Use these are cards for dictionary/taboo/ charades

This lesson is aimed at looking at how the monarchy’s power changed under King Richard II. Students look at why the Peasant’s Revolt happened under king Richard. Students are challenged to think what this shows about the power of medieval monarchs. There is a GCSE styled question with sentence starters for the less able. There are challenge tasks to stretch the top end. There is also a literacy focus as well, where students need to correct literacy mistakes. There is also a model answer where students use it provide template and to redraft their work. They can also discuss what is good and how they could improve it.

This lesson looks at why so many people died in the Titanic disaster, students consider whether the inquiry after the sinking reached the right conclusion. Students look at evidence to work out the most important reason why some many people lost their lives. Students found this more engaging than looking at why the titanic sank, and were able to create sophisticated judgments to explain the death toll differences of the first and third class passengers. Includes a worksheet to help with arranging information.

This lesson looks at trenches during World War One. Students read through sources to find out about life in trenches. There is a diagram task to learn about key features of a trench Lesson include a writing frame for low ability as well as a differentiated worksheet for the source activity.

This lesson looks at what was happening to African Americans in the 1950’s focusing on the murder of Emmett Till. The lesson is based around the song by Bob Dylan. Students learn about the events of the murder and analyse the song lyrics. Students then complete a GCSE styled question. There is a model answer as well as sentence starters. Students are challenged to compare the lives of African American in the 50’s with what they have learn about the 1920’s.

A 43 page booklet that recaps the AQA america topic from 1920-45. The booklet contains key word prompts, questions and tasks. I use this as a bank of worksheets to keep refreshing their understanding of the topic. When it comes to their exams students can print these off for revision. Topics covered: -Reasons for the economic boom - Car Industry - Great depression - New Deal - WW2 and the economy - Entertainment and culture.

A collection of resources to help students revise the Civil Rights movement. There is a timeline to complete which gets students to recap key events that have been looked. Can be used as a homework task as well. Include in timeline are some more obscure events which I set in previous lessons to research. There is a blockbusters themed activity/revision game. This can be played as a teacher vs class activity or printed and laminated to be reused. There is also 30 individualized key word bingo sheets. There is also a GCSE styled interpretation question with sentence starters as well as a describe question with sentence starters and a model paragraph

A lesson with multiple activities designed around a double lesson. Includes a revision clock with visual prompts, a question planning sheet with differentiation, a timeline task, a question competition. This lesson could be taught in a double or the activities could be spread out and taught separately.

A lesson that looks at how the war progressed after the invasion, it loos at the role of the US, UN, USSR and China. There is a GCSE source question with sentence starters and a model answer. There are challenge tasks to stretch and challenge the top end.

A lesson that focuses on source work but allows students to recap the Korean War. Lesson includes a source task, where stundents have to match sources with the message and then give evidence to back up their choice. There are 16 sources included, 4 different worksheets. I put two on an A3 page. The lesson also includes two GCSE source questions, with sentence starters for both, and a model answer for the 12 marker. Challenge tasks are included to stretch the top end.
