GCSE FRENCH: French Present Tense REGULAR VERB RACE GAME

VERB RACE is a fun and very exciting way to practice conjugations. Your students are going to love this set of 75 regular present tense French verbs to use in the fast moving VERB RACE GAME. This set includes 75 common -ER, -IR and -RE verbs. Classic verb race involves dividing the class into teams and one person from each team goes up to the board to conjugate faster than everyone else. I've included full instructions, tips and rules with this resource. VERB RACE has always been a huge favorite in my classroom. In classic VERB RACE it is usually the teacher who moderates the game, but in the instructions I'll explain in great detail how you can play a student led game so that even your weakest students can participate and learn a ton. I'm including a powerpoint version of the game WITHOUT ANSWERS and student response sheets should you want to project the game and play as a class or in small groups without moving out of desks and up to the board. Also with this resource you'll receive 75 task cards without responses (answer key included). You can use these cards in STATIONS, in a game of SCOOT or in classic BOARD GAMES. I recommend printing out the cards, laminating them if possible, cutting them out, punching holes in the space provided and hooking them together with a ring for years of NO PREP usage and verb conjugation review. Here's exactly what you get: 75 calling cards with answers - Black and white and color versions provided 75 numbered task cards without answers - Black and white and color versions provided Powerpoint version of 75 cards without answers How to play and other ways to use the cards Student response sheet Answer key

GCSE FRENCH: French Trivia Game

This 90 question trivia game is loads of fun for an end of the year or semester game, a back to school activity, a sub plan or use trivia for bell ringer and icebreaker activities. Though his product was created for French classes, it will work for any high school class since the questions are based on general knowledge and not only French related information. I’ve included several different versions (see full details below) including French only and French and English as well as powerpoint versions which will allow you to project the game and play as a class. This trivia game is great fun as a French club activity. This resource includes: 90 trivia cards - French only with answers 90 trivia cards - French only without answers 90 trivia cards - French only without answers - Powerpoint version 90 trivia cards - French and English with answers 90 trivia cards - French and English without answers 90 trivia cards - French and English without answers - Powerpoint version Each trivia question is assigned a point value (the easiest are worth 1 point and the most difficult are worth 9 points). There are a number of ways you can play this game. Here are some of the ways I like to use this game: 1. Have students play in small groups of at least 3. One student calls the questions and verifies the answers. Students keep track of their score and in the end the one with the most points wins. 2. Project the powerpoint version of the game and have students write their answers and points scored on a numbered sheet of paper. You could easily allow students to work in small groups so that they can help each other out. In the end, the group with the most points wins. 3. Classic Jeopardy: Draw the game board which is composed of boxes with points in them on the classroom's whiteboard or project it from a computer. Group students into teams. The game starts when the teacher chooses the first easy box that teams need to answer. Once the first box has been answered, the team that answered correctly can choose the next question. They can choose the hardest questions if they want additional points or they can opt for easier ones for lower amounts of points. For the final round, also known as DOUBLE JEOPARDY the points double. The game ends when all the questions on the board game have been answered and the team with the highest score wins.

La Nourriture - French 20 questions game - No prep speaking activity

(0)
La Nourriture - French 20 questions game - No prep speaking activity The game of 20 questions is a fun and effective way to practice forming French questions and in this version of the game, students can practice using partitive articles with 52 nouns which are all food and drinks. The food and drink vocabulary used in this game is the same that I’ve included in my set of 75 cards to practice French partitive, definite, and indefinite articles. These two resources are great to use together. This game work for any level as it is written in French and English. Want a real challenge for your upper levels or immersion students? Use the French only version! Included: 1 version with vocabulary written in French and English 1 version with vocabulary written in French only** Have students work in small groups of 2-4 or project the game and use it as a whole class activity. This game includes 52 words. Many of the words may be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice forming questions, but also to build vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words. After they’ve played the games a few times looking at the French-English version they feel more prepared to move on to the French only version. One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word. The student who has chosen the secret word can answer using the following responses: OUI - NON - PARFOIS - RAREMENT - GÉNÉRALEMENT - PEUT-ÊTRE - CELA DÉPEND - PROBABLEMENT Alternative game play: To change up the game and to make it more challenging as well as practicing other skills, have the student who chooses the secret word describe it to others in the group. Instead of asking questions about the secret word, other students listen to the description and guess it.

GCSE FRENCH: Bataille Navale - Futur simple - French future tense battleship game

(0)
Everyone loves a good game of BATTLESHIP, and the French classroom is a better place than any! You can use this classic game format to have your students practice the futur simple tense. This game is perfect for both core and immersion curriculums and everything written on the games is in French. *There is not an answer key included with this resource due to the number of responses possible. I encourage you to allow your students to use a resource that you choose for them to check your answers. Just print out one page of the version of this game that you want to use per student. Students place boats (which are squares on the game sheets that they will have darkened with a pencil) on the game board. Students play against each other to try to find and eventually sink their opponent’s boats. Subject pronouns are written in the vertical column and infinitives are written in the boxes at the top. To choose a square, the player must say the subject and correct verb form in the imperfect tense. Another idea is to have students make simple sentences using the subject pronoun and verb of choice. All of the vocabulary they’ll need is written right on the game sheet and it is all in French. Each game sheet includes two battleship grids and a line separating the two. Students can fold the paper on the line if they want to. One of the grids is for a player to place his boats and the other is to mark and keep track of his opponent. This resource includes 5 versions of the game with both black and white and color copies and instructions on how to play. LICENSING TERMS: This purchase includes a license for one teacher only for personal use in their classroom. Licenses are non-transferable, meaning they can not be passed from one teacher to another. No part of this resource is to be shared with colleagues or used by an entire grade level, school, or district without purchasing the proper number of licenses. French Freebie: Activity to get your students speaking

(0)
French Freebie: Activity to get your students speaking This resource is very similar to another one (also free) in which you’ll have students talking about the house, hotel, vacation, etc. of their worst nightmares. Students will talk all about the house, etc. of their dreams in this one. I like to use these resources one after the other while the content is still fresh, but the vocabulary will change dramatically when students shift from what they would love to what would give them nightmares! This is a no prep, one page activity for intermediate to advanced level students, and the content is perfectly suitable both for primary (French immersion) and secondary curriculums. There are fifteen questions that will have them talking about, for example, the house of their dreams. This is meant to be a paired or small group activity, but it is NOT meant to just have students take turns describing what they would love. The idea is to imagine that everyone in the group is going to live in the house together. There will probably be some things that everyone agrees on, and there will certainly be things they will disagree on. When I have my students do this activity, it’s always fun to watch them debate what is and what is not important. In the end, they can agree to disagree! My students really have a good time with this activity, and I love seeing the imagination that they have! **Here are the 15 conversation starters: DÉCRIVONS…** La maison de nos rêves… L’hôtel de nos rêves… Le jardin de nos rêves… Le restaurant de nos rêves… La ville de nos rêves… L’avion de nos rêves… Les vacances de nos rêves… La voiture de nos rêves… La garde-robe de nos rêves… La chambre de nos rêves… La cuisine de nos rêves… La fête d’anniversaire de nos rêves… La plage de nos rêves… Le lac de nos rêves… Le cinéma de nos rêves…

Free French School Menu #1

(0)
Free French School Menu #1 Have a look at what’s on the menu at my kids’ school in France. Cheese every day!! I’ll be adding more menus weekly as I receive them. There are so many things a French teacher could do with these in class. It would be a fun cultural study to look up images of some of these menu items to show students what they look like and if they eat anything similar at their schools or homes. This could lead to a discussion on the length of time French students typically have to eat and rest as compared to students and teachers in your school.
