Two lessons which focus on answering an exam style question, on writing to argue,for the Eduqas Specification. Lesson includes: 1) Handy phrases to include in an argument 2) Mark Scheme 3) Two different examples responses - one higher level, one lower. The pupils mark both and discuss what mark they would give and why. Worked really well with my year 11 class but can also be used and adapted for year 10 if they are studying the spec.

Each set of quotations for each novel are organised efficiently onto one page per module, making this easy for pupils to revise from. Each page states who says the quote, where the quote is taken from in the novel or play and key themes to organise the key quotations into.

Ideal for foundation (Year 7 and 8). A newspaper report based around the concept of Miranda and Prospero going missing. Full plan of how to gather the ideas based around the report on the Powerpoint and a model response included.

A lesson which centres around introducing the main characters of the novel: Nick, Gatsby, Daisy and Tom Buchanan. The powerpoint includes lots of information about the characters and the relationships between each other. The pupils then use the character map worksheet to link the characters to one another. This is a great introductory lesson to The Great Gatsby which can be adapted to suit KS3/KS4.

A lesson which is aimed towards KS4. Pupils are given an exam style questions focusing on Nick the narrator and his opinions in Chapter 1. Pupils are encouraged to read the extract a paragraph at a time and fill in the table, identifying quotations which prove Nick’s opinions and analyse them. This lesson is meant to be quick paced but you could definitely adapt to suit the needs of your class. A filled in table is also provided for the teacher.

A lesson looking at the differences between East and West Egg - an important concept within the novel The Great Gatsby. Pupils are encouraged to read the extract attached, highlighting and selecting quotations linked to the setting. The quotations are also on the ppt. Pupils are then asked to try to draw out what they think East/West Egg looks like on the map and then compare to the images on the ppt. Lastly, they compare the differences between East and West Egg.

An introduction lesson to War of the Worlds. Great for both KS3 and KS4 as you can adapt the lesson to fit the needs of your pupils. The lesson focuses on the pupils making predictions based around certain images included on the powerpoint. These images link to the radio broadcast of War of the Worlds. Pupils then listen to the radio broadcast to see for themselves and answer some empathic questions based around the broadcast.

Perfect for KS4 Eduqas/WJEC. A lesson which focuses on tracking Simon as a character from Chapter 1 to his death in Chapter 9. All key quotations/key moments etc included on the table. Can easily be adapted to help a higher ability set as well.

A lesson perfect for KS4 revising A Christmas Carol. This lesson tracks through every moment the Cratchit family are featured in the novel to enable pupils to focus on their importance. They then build a bank of quotations centred around this.
