What’s included? This download includes four A4, portrait pdf sheets to practise matching upper and lowercase alphabet letters using an alphabet strip (showing capital letters) and carrots (for lowercase letters). Two pages are clear instructions on how to make the rabbit face into a ‘posting box’ (with photos supporting each step). An empty tissue box is needed to make this resource. On this download dotted guide lines show where to cut, there are also two ‘slits’ which need making and a hole to be cut (inside the rabbits mouth). Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Resource Details The photo shows how this resource looks which complete. The idea is that learners move the capital letter alphabet strip left/right to show a different capital letter. They then ‘post’ the matching lowercase alphabet letter into the rabbit’s mouth. This is an ideal activity to keep learners busy and independent. I have included two versions of the letter ‘k’ as some learners may be more used to the look of one style than the other. Dotted guide line showing where to cut and punch a hole are included. The hole to punch is 5mm in size though a smaller hole punch could be used (to increase the fine motor skills challenge!) Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Resource Details The layout includes x6 rows and x9 columns of circular shaped beads each with an upper/lowercase letter. Beads are arranged in rainbow order to help guide and motivate learners in finding the next number (and colour) in the pattern. This is an ideal activity to keep learners busy and independent. What’s included? Two downloads of the same resource - one is the question/activity resource, the other the answers in the same layout for easy reference. x4 portrait, pdf sheets in total. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for pupils in year two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Resource Details Page 1 The resource explores the pattern of counting in twos, on a number grid to 32 learners first circle the ‘twos numbers’. Learners are then presented with the two times table in order with boxes in which to write their answers. They can use their findings from the circles drawn on the grid above to complete this, however if this is too tricky initially learners can leave this section and proceed onto the next (last) section (which begins on page 1) - exploring ‘pairs’ of numbers, using ‘head phones’ as a clear visual guide. Page 2 continues to explore ‘pairs of twos numbers’ using the headphones throughout to make the question being asked clear to learners. There is a box for learners to write their answers in for each question. There is a clear space for learners to write their name on the upper right side of page 1 (vertically) and the lower left side of page 2 (horizontally). This download includes two resources (cards and game boards) to use together to play a simple game to practise ‘counting in 2’s’ (0 - 30) using a rabbit/bunny theme (each two ears!) as a helpful visual guide. Resource Details Counting in 2’s Rabbit Cards Page 1 includes x15 cards each featuring one rabbit (with two ears!) and a ‘two’s number’ underneath. Cards on page one are from 2 - 30. Page 2 includes a ‘0’ card, a ‘blank’ (replacement) card and an additional ’24’ card - to be used to play the ‘Carrot game’. These Counting in 2’s Rabbit Cards can be used on their own to practise ordering numbers (counting in twos) and have been designed to pair with the x4 ‘Carrot Game’ boards. Carrot Game Boards (Counting in 2’s) For four players though one learner could use these on their own to practise matching - counting in 2’s (also using the ‘Counting in 2’s Rabbit Cards’. Carrot Game - Instructions Needed to play game… One board (A-D) per player (x4 boards total) One set of ‘Counting in 2’s Rabbit Cards’ (AND one extra ’24’ card) To prepare - cut up, shuffle and place 'Counting in 2’s Rabbit Cards’ face down in a grid. How to play… Players take turns to select one card from the grid. If selected card fits into either the ‘upper’ or ‘lower’ sequence (above/below ‘grass’ on board) player keeps and positions this card on their board. The player then has another turn. If that card does not fit either sequence on the player’s board the card is returned and it is the next players turn. WINNER matches all (x4) 2’s cards correctly first! This blank version is the most challenging sheet in this set. This page can also be printed and the adult can write some of the 2’s numbers in, leaving gaps for the learner to write to remaining 2’s numbers in the complete the boxes. Page 2 Also features x25 boxes with a rabbit in each and a large blank space under each image where the learner can write the correct 2’s number. This version includes one ‘helping number’ on each row (numbers 8, 16 and 50) to guide learners as they go. This is least challenging sheet in this set. Page 3 The third page is exactly the same layout with the answers included. Learners could access this page themselves once they have completed this activity to check how they got on, encouraging autonomy. What’s included? SET 2 x6 sheets (activities and answers) for Phase 2 Set 1 (letters - m d g o c k). Landscape orientation, pdf format. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one as well as students needing additional learning support. What’s it for? This ‘Phase 2’ phonics practise activity set (2) has been designed to be a simple, predictable activity to promote independence and consolidate knowledge of the first set of letters/sounds introduced. This activity is ideal for groups to be getting on with independently. Phase 2 (set 1 - s, a, t, p, i, n) in same design is now available in my TES shop if you like this one. How to use it? The adult can pre-cut the x10 rectangular shaped puzzles - pages 1 and 2 (grey dotted lines guide where to cut) to separate them from each other. The adult can also cut the orange dotted lines to separate the segments of each puzzle itself. Picture/word puzzles Each learner needs to match up the segments of each picture/word puzzle to complete the x10 pictures and words - all words on the ‘picture/word’ puzzles are made using only the ‘m d g o c k’ letters/sounds. Once the puzzles are complete learners can use these as a reference to complete the x10 sentences (pages 3-6). Extension/follow-on sentences… There are two versions of the same x10 sentences to complete. A larger format (pages 3 and 4) which can be cut up (perhaps laminated) and written on (if laminated - with a dry wipe/wipe clean pen). The smaller scale version (page 5) has the same x10 sentences but ‘all on one page’ for learners to complete with a pencil, as a ‘worksheet’. Answers are included on page 6 in the same format which learners can use for quick, easy reference. Resource Details… The sentences include high frequency words ‘a’, ‘the’, ‘this’, ‘is’, ‘go’, ‘on’, ’can’. The sentences also include the word ‘spade’ (with an image of a spade directly above this word), ’peas’ (with an image of pod with peas in/outside of it directly above this word) and ’hot’ (with an image of pot with steam coming out of the spout directly above this word). The sentences included are - ‘A pink _ _ _’. (pig) (‘pink’ can be sounded out) ‘This is a hot _ _ _ ‘. (pot) (‘h’ in ‘hot’ may not have been introduced yet) ‘This is a _ _ _ ‘. (dog) ‘The _ _ _ _ can spin‘. (cogs) (‘spin’ can be sounded out) ‘Peas in a _ _ _ ‘. (pod) (‘peas’ may be tricky) ‘This _ _ _ can go on top’. What’s included? This download includes a game (for up to x6 players) to practise ‘counting in 2’s’ (up to 50) using pairs of socks as a helpful visual guide. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. To play this game the two resources included are both needed. Resource 1 details *Counting in 2’s ‘Sock number cards’ x5 ‘landscape orientation’ pdf sheets. The layout of all pages includes x3 rows and x4 columns of boxes each with pairs of socks from 0 to 50 (counting in 2’s). Before playing the game these are to be cut up (using the dotted guidelines), shuffled and placed face down in a grid to play the game. Printing these cards onto card (instead of paper!) will prevent the numbers being visible through the paper when placed face down to play the game (helping to increase ‘fairness’ and eliminate cheating!) Resource 2 *‘Washing Line Game Boards’ x6 ‘portrait orientation’ pdf sheets (x6 different colours - red/yellow/green/blue/purple/pink). The layout includes x3 rows and x3 columns of boxes on/in which to place a ‘Counting in 2’s Sock card’ as if socks are hanging on the washing line. Simple instructions (as well as what is needed to play the game) are included at the top of every ‘Washing Line’ game board. How to play the Washing Line Game take turns to select one sock number card from the grid collect and keep (on washing line board) sock cards which count in 2’s in sequence, for example… 6/8/10 (on the top washing line) and 22/24/26 on the lower washing line replace cards to the grid that don’t fit the chosen 2’s sequence and pass play to the next player first player to collect two sequences of three ‘Counting in 2’s’ wins! Game tips Remembering where exactly players return 2’s number cards to the grid will increase players chances of winning! to increase winning chances encourage players NOT to choose to keep the ‘same’ cards (showing the same sequence of counting in 2’s) as other players are collecting. Choosing to keep a different set of 2’s numbers is more likely to be a wiser, quicker way to win! There are not enough of every sock number card for everyone to successfully choose and use the same sock number cards for their sequences. What’s included? x5 sheets, portrait orientation, pdf format. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for children in the early years, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. What’s it for? This resource has been designed to encourage learners to investigate the concept of symmetry within x6 spot/dot pictures. How to use it? Learners use the printed B&W/colour spots on the left to complete each of the x6 ‘symmetrical patterns’ on the right side. Alternatively learners can create their own symmetrical spot/dot patterns using the blank sheet provided. Suggestion Using safety mirrors along side the activity would make a huge difference to understanding (or not) for some learners. Best to use these where they are available, Resource Details… The B&W and colour version of this resource show the same patterns (with answers) but a ‘blank’ is included for the adult/learners to create their own. Resource Details Page 1 The resource explores the concept of ‘opposites’ through two pictures showing the same scene with x9 differences (between the pictures) to identify. These differences are all ‘opposites’. These opposites are - on/off, up/down, sit/stand, sunny/rainy, shut/open, dry/wet, above/below, alive/not alive and in front/behind. Once learners identify a difference between the picture scenes they can circle these and find the matching label below to link the two opposite word labels. This download includes x2 pages featuring x10 butterflies - one black and white, one rainbow version. There are x2 A4 pages in total, both portrait orientation. Each page clearly features ten butterflies. Each butterfly’s left wing shows one part of each double (in ‘dots’) in order order up to 10. Learners can complete the other half of each double by drawing ‘dots’ e.g. with a felt tip pen onto the space on the right wing. The total number of dots can then be written on the line underneath to complete the sentence e.g. ‘Double 1 is 2.’ These beautiful ‘doubles resources’ have been carefully designed for early years and pupils in years one and two as well as students needing additional learning support. Size 20 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font makes the text e.g. ‘Double 2 is …’ easy to read and clearly models the process of doubling numbers to 10 to learners. This resource can be used to introduce learners to doubles and/or consolidate learners knowledge of doubles to 10. These PDF’s have been designed to print and use as practical write-on resource, they could be laminated to enable reuse. What’s included? This download includes two pages (x2 A4 sheets, portrait orientation as a pdf) featuring one ‘Summer words’ word search (page 1). The answers (on page 2) clearly show where all words are hidden, displayed in the same layout (as page 1) for easy comparison and quick reference. Other seasons (Spring, Autumn and Winter) are also available (also for free!) in my TES shop (as well as 'months of the year’) and other word searches in this same style. Who’s it for? This word search has been designed for pupils the early years, in years one and two, as well as students needing additional learning support. This simple, clear resource has been carefully designed to encourage young learners with reading ‘high frequency’ key words. Knowing these common ‘Summer words’ - both reading them on-sight and learning the correct spellings will benefit both reading and writing. This word search makes the spellings clear, there are x19 words to find. Resource layout The word search letters are arranged in a x10 by x10 square grid and featuring easy to read size 25 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font. The Summer words have been organised into four groups of five (one group of four!), clearly showing all hidden question words below the word search. As said, there are x19 words to find in total. These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards), vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (forwards and backwards). Words to find are; bee, butterfly, daisy, rose, beach, bucket, paddle, sandcastle, spade, barbecue, hot, ice cream, picnic, solstice, camp, humid, sand, shell and towel. Recommendations I recommend that learners use a ‘highlighter’ style pen when finding the hidden words as highlighters enable all letters to remain visible once each word has been identified. Some letters have been used more than once (for different words) so all letters need to remain visible (if words are instead ‘crossed out’ this makes the letters harder to read and identify). This word search may be printed and laminated to be reused. Useful for… I find word searches like this good way to motivate pupils to read words and while engaging in the activity learners are encouraged to focus on the spellings as they really think about the order of which letter follows which within each ‘Summer’ word especially as they try to track words which are hidden backwards or diagonally within the word search! This word search can make a good use of time as a follow on activity for early finishers. Word searches can be an engaging homework task, useful in supporting reading, spelling and writing. 2D shapes (and properties) name game

What’s included? This download includes x2 pages, portrait orientation, in pdf format. What is it? This is a simple game for two players to reinforce 2D shape names and the number of sides each shape has. The game includes two boards on page 2 (one for each player) with a space for each player to write their names on the line above. All that is needed in addition is a die (dice). One to share is best to promote turn-taking. Players take turns to roll the die. The number on the die indicates the number of sides of the shape e.g. a circle has ‘one’ side therefore if the player rolls a ‘one’ with the die the ‘circle’ can be ‘ticked off’ on the board. Alternatively a counter/‘matching 2D plastic/wooden shape’ could be placed on top of each shape on the board once the shape has been ‘rolled’. The first player to tick off (or cover up!) all 2D shapes on their board is the ‘winner’ ! Clear visual instructions are included on page 1 of this resource which the players could be encouraged to read themselves before playing the game. Who’s it for? This ‘2D shape name game’ resource has been designed for early years and pupils in years one and two as well as students needing additional learning support. What’s needed? One die (dice) to share or one each. Foam dice are great as really quiet! Optional A shallow box, e.g. half of an empty cereal box laid flat on its back with front removed (ideally lined with a piece ‘felt’ fabric to soften sound) to roll the die into could be used to avoid dice rolling away (e.g. off a table top). This should avoid any momentum of the game being interrupted while searching for lost dice ! Resource layout The instruction text is size 14 ‘Avenir’ font. Instructions are included on page 1, the game itself (x2 game boards) are included on page 2. Recommendations This PDF has been designed to print and write-on. It could be laminated and a dry-wipe pen used to enable reuse and improve durability.
