In an attempt to encourage an increase in Tier Three language, and improve the variety of words students can use in extended writing, this resource can be filled in with words appropriate to your subject/topic: Tier Three: subject specific terminology (eg sustainability) Tier Two: academic leanings - used in lots of classrooms (eg adaptation) Tier One: every day words (eg community) I have now included my own Geography example.

I created these stickers, initially to combat students completing very little or illegible work - a a source of evidence in books of what should have been completed, and to support EAL/ASD students. Designed to nudge both Lower Ability and Higher Ability students up a notch to challenge them in class. Some focused on timings, others on learned knowledge etc. I have left them open to editing for your specific topics/students.

Designed with the 9-1 specification in mind, this A3 sheet is an outline for conscientious students who could perhaps use it as a check sheet for revision - most expectations are highlighted using an “I can…” sentence starter so that it is easy to understand. I have used key terms like embedding and enhancing rather than assigning numerical grades so as to avoid those awkward questions in summer!

Recapping major events throughout this academic year. This quiz has 30 questions (and answers) so should be good for lessons lasting 40-50 minutes.

Assessing some of the key knowledge and skills that should have been covered at KS2 - as well as one or two more challenging questions. The marksheet is also included, but the levels have been removed, in line with government changes. A student that answers well and achieves more than 70% is at a good starting point for KS3.

Two tracker sheets: one for skills and another for intervention. Besides making a difference to kids' development in the lesson, these are also very useful for evidence of progress and action for Performance Management, and just take an extra 30 seconds to fill in each time you mark work.

Two useful forms for encouraging aspiration and literacy in secondary students. I created them to use in form time, or PSHE, but could be useful in other areas.

Looking to test your students’ retention, or fulfilment of promises that they are revising their fieldwork information? This is a short set of slides I used to take 20-30 minutes with the whiteboards one lesson before a more in-depth in-class assessment about the topics. I then followed this with a re-iteration of revision styles, time organising files and missed work and tackling any areas of concern on this paper for students. Of course, the dates on the last slide will need to be edited if you wish to use this after 2020!
