A revision lesson aimed to help students to improve their own ELLA 3 section A comparative essays. Can be adapted to suit any previous exam papers. Encourages independent learning, self reflection and peer assessment. The double lesson follows on, allowing higher achievers to use coaching skills to help their peers improve.

Guide to writing about the poem. I used this to guide students through their English poetry unit.

Lesson designed for top set groups: differentiated for levels 5 to 6 or C to A students. Guides through inference and deduction as well as selection of relevant quotations.

Unable to share the power point which goes with this lesson as found on the internet, however, the lessons are based on 'Presents from my Aunts in Pakistan' by Moniza Alvi and many power points and clips can be found easily. This encourages students to create a visual artistic representation of a section of the poem. Works really well with challenging students.

Lessons based on Imtiaz Dharker's poem 'Blessings'. Can easily be differentiated. Works well with middle to lower sets and builds on empathy and creative writing skills as well as poetry analysis.

Lessons on 'The Man He Killed' by Thomas Hardy (following previous William Butler Yeats lessons). Students should be able to apply a simple frame of analysis.

Consolidation lesson - students to create their own revision sheet on their favourite poem. To extend, students could also learn one of the poems off by heart and perform it.

In which students prepare in groups to teach a whole lesson themselves on a poem from another culture. Excellent for G&T independent learning.

Introduces students to key passages and use of the framework in the opening section of the novel. The sessions may take a series of lessons.

A detailed lesson (or series of lessons depending on time restraints), where students explore a series of important extracts focusing on St John, Hannah and the rest of the Rivers family. Suggests background reading and possible examination questions for both section A and B.

Lessons encourage students to analyse a Shakespearean sonnet and apply a simple writing frame of analysis. Encourages them to think cratively about language and use of imagery.
