A fun addition game or lesson starter. 4 slides each showing pairs of coloured, numbered animals. Share with the class and ask children to make pairs using the colours and then add the two numbers together. Mini white boards and pens are great for this activity. Change the numbers to make it easier or harder. Add on your own animal slides to extend.

4 sets of different colour trucks for children to cut, count, order and match from 1 to 5. They will need to look carefully at the size, shape and number of wheels when matching encouraging close observation and discussion. Duplicate and laminate for more matching games and a reusable activity.

Here are 4 designs for children to choose from when carrying out a survey. Each of the 5 pictures on the sheets are colour and set into TVs. The idea is that children find out which of the sports children prefer to watch on TV or they could ask about favourite sports. There is space next to each picture for tally charts. The sheets can then be used to write about the findings e.g. next to the football picture - children might write - I found out that 10 out of 20 (1/2) the children surveyed preferred to watch football on TV. Another way of using the sheets cross - curricular is to label the sports, or write a caption or sentence next to the pictures.

Children can identify the numbers to 10 and colour them to match the colour poster or sort using their own colours. An extra challenge is for children to work out which number is missing!

This is a fun activity for young children learning to recognise their numbers from 1 to 10. Each number has a colour box. Children locate the numbers and colour them the same as the box. They could then count how many of each number they found. Extend for more able pupils - ask them to add up all the numbers in each row, or all of the number 2s etc. There is a blank template included for you to use for higher numbers.

A good activity to run alongside your number work and practical dice activities. Children count the dots on each dice and write the numbers. They could then cut and order them. Sheet 2 is for children to add the correct amount of dots onto each dice. Sheet 3 is a template for you or the children to make their own dice. Links to 3D shape work and properties of shape.
