Student-Centred Music Rubrics.
Perfect for displaying on the walls of your classroom, or using in class as a tool to help learners understand where they are, and what they can do to achieve their next steps. It can be used as a tool for student self-assessment, or for teacher assessment.
Comes with pre-created rubrics for Performance and Composition (K-2 and Grades 3-5), as well as completely editable Powerpoints for you to re-word or create new rubrics, to suit your classroom and teaching.
Using these in lessons, I found students had a really good understanding of how they could move from ‘Beginning’, through to ‘Intermediate’ and ‘Advanced’. Students, particularly in Grades 3-5, were able to take further control of their learning and work, to help themselves achieve their goals.
This document comes in PDF and PPT formats, with a color version, and a printer-friendly version.

A guidance document for Key Stage 1 Music, including suggested activities
This document includes a guideline of when to introduce different skills and concepts throughout Year 1 and Year 2, and what goals to aim for each month. It also includes activity suggestions to help students achieve those goals. If you’re not sure of how to plan lessons for Key Stage 1, what to aim for, or how to scaffold their learning to achieve their music goals, hopefully this will help.
It lines up with, and moves beyond the British Model Music Curriculum in some elements, based on my experiences with students in the classroom. It encourages a joyful music-making experience, with an emphasis on musical literacy, and helping students develop into expressive young musicians with strong musical foundations.
Please note, that festivals and celebrations mentioned in the activity suggestions are UK focused. I am in the process of updating it to also include more US based suggestions.

Music Lessons for Nursery through to EYFS children, aged 18 months - 5 years.
Whether just starting out, or looking for more resources, these themes, activities and lessons are perfect for either parent and child classes, or music classes in a nursery/preschool setting. The 90+ different activities will last you an entire term, or even more, alongside the 12 sample lessons, meaning less time spent planning.
This packet focuses on the following themes:
Farmyard
Forest/Nature
Ocean
Food
The approach in these nursery and preschool classes is to help develop the whole child in a musical way, developing an inner sense of steady beat, taking part in group activities, exploring their voices and using their bodies etc. The structure of the lessons and types of activities are inspired by my work teaching the Feierabend First Steps in Music curriculum.

Steel Pan 101 - an original curriculum for Jumbie Jam pans and Steel Pan.
Whether you are new to pans, or in need of some fresh ideas, this curriculum is for you.
After living and teaching in the Caribbean for several years, we have created Steel Pan 101- Level One, a complete guide to teaching the pans, with: 22 pieces, backing tracks, assessment rubrics, Learning Objective ‘I Can’ statements, Essential Questions, and Teacher Guidance Notes, to help other educators to teach the steel pan. With over 120 pages of material, this curriculum has a lot to offer.
Written with the Jumbie Jam pans specifically in mind, Level One takes students through the first 5 notes of the pan, introducing a variety of rhythms and skills (including improvisation and harmony playing), through Caribbean inspired pieces.
The Essential Questions and ‘I Can’ statements help to organize learning from the very beginning, while the rubric enables you to appropriately assess students at the end of the course. The teacher notes offer guidance on each piece, and on the concepts introduced during the curriculum, as well as further ideas on how to introduce them successfully.
If you’re just getting started with the Jumbie Pans, this is a great place to begin. Check out the Jumbie Jam warm-ups for more ideas on getting started!
