A Knowledge Organiser created for GCSE Media Sudies (Eduqas) covering some key media theories (including all ‘set’ Eduqas theories) related to: Audience, Media Language, Representations, Media Industry.
Can be used as a classroom display or handout/revision aid for students. This is a bank of active verbs for writing about, and analysing, media products and a bank of 'sentence starters' to help students integrate media theory into their analysis of media products. This is aimed at A Level media students and based on the Eduqas theoretical framework and set theories.
A HOME LEARNING project on Pride and GQ Magazines for students taking GCSE Media in 2021 - created for the Codiv-19 school closure.
This covers most of the specification and includes around 20 tasks on things such as: research, annotation and analysis, application of theories (previously taught), exam style questions.
I created this for a class who have not done any work on magazines so far is is ‘new content’ for them, this could however also be suitable for students with some previous learning on magazines.

A fun, festive lesson which analyses the uss of media language in a range of print based Christmas adverts. Links nicely to any teaching of print based advertising and Eduqas GCSE Media Paper 1.
A lesson focusing on breaking down Neale’s Genre theory and analysing key sequences from Scream and American Sniper (although any film products could be used). This is a set theory for Eduqas A Level media and this lesson is taught in line with this particular specification, but it is relevant to all study of film!
A complete lesson covering magazine codes and conventions and media language on GQ Magazine (August 2019 edition) for Paper 1 of Eduqas GCSE Media Studies.
A simple lesson exploring the concept of Postmodernism and Baudrillard’s theory for Eduqas A Level media.
The lesson assumes that students have some knowledge of postmodernism already and focuses on Component 2: TV in the Golden Age and documentaries (The Jinx and No Burqas Behind Bars) but can very easily be adapted for any analysis of any media products (Formation, Life on Mars, Riptide…).
A complete lesson focusing on how to successfully answer Q2a on Paper one of EDUQAS GCSE MEDIA. This lesson mainly focuses on Quality Street and explores relevant historical context, but also includes an example answer (from a student) based on This Girl Can. The lesson can be easily adapted to focus on any of the set products for Paper 1 Section A.
Between 2-3 detailed lessons based on Eduqas A Level media studies; an introduction to 1950s advertising and marketing and the set product Tide. Lessons include a focus on context and audiences. All relevant areas of the theoretical framework are covered!
