Powerpoint is exported from the Notebook file so formatting isn't as good, I converted it so the content can be seen but feel free to tidy it up. Two lessons can be combined into one as needed.

Estimating mean of grouped data (Codebreaker)

(1)
Calculate the mean of the set of tables and use that information to break the codes, then work out which is the odd one out. Please feel free to split it up so each pupil gets one question that reflects the amount of work they can do in a given time. (Rose is the odd one out as the others have bulbs)

I hope I am doing this right, I have taken this idea from jordyst and added a couple more countries to give the class a bit more variety on the practice section (and some bigger numbers) I hope I am crediting this correctly, if not please contact me to get it sorted.

Volume of cylinders practice (self marking)

(1)
Work out the answers to each cylinder volume, all the answers are there. Now has a second version with extra answers at the bottom to act as 'red herrings' There is a terrible joke on there too if you put the letters into the order the questions appear. What did the orchestra buy from the sweet shop "A tuba smarties" Feel free to chop this off the bottom of the sheet if its too bad.

Transformations (codebreaker)

(2)
Use the instruction on each card to spell out the word, it gives you the first letter then each subsequent transformation reveals more of the word. You continue from the last place you were at. What do all the words have in common (they are all water craft)

Compound areas of house fronts (worksheet)

(2)
Calculate the area of wall that needs painting on these buildings. Answers included though they are a little complicated to read: The three numbers on the right are the wall, windows and doors, final answer. The rest of the numbers are the various parts labelled according to the type of shape they are.

Ratio and proportion for multipacks of cola (investigation)

Can you work out which cans are the cheapest. A second sheet with a different requirement as I think the "JUST BUY ONE CAN AND BE DONE WITH IT" was a common answer. Help sheets included to be given out or 'bought' by students if they are really struggling. The task has been left a little open but can be focussed on simply working out 'best deal' on the six offers.

Be the first team to answer all of the number sequence questions correctly. You cannot move onto the next card until you answer the previous one. Sorry but the answer sheet file has been lost, I will try to get one uploaded but they are not that difficult to work out.

mrwhy1089mrwhy1089

simple percentages (hidden word)

(1)
Calculate the percentages in your head, colour in any answers that fit the criteria. Spell out a hidden word or phrase, in this case the answer to the joke. What did zero say to eight? Nice belt

Winner is first to use all their counters (number to be decided at the start) Can also be used as a worksheet.
