Check out this fun and engaging way to take science fair the next level and make it that much more meaningful. This round-robin activity allows students in your class to visit three other projects and learn about them. Included in each section, students will record the presenter, the project, the explanation and summary of the project and then positive things they identified. They are meant to repeat this three times with a reflection at the end, but it can easily be adapted to fit your setting. Quantifying the results of science fair or stem fair is always difficult since there are so many pieces that go into it. Check out this four part rubric that allows for 1-4 points for each section. Students can score a total of 16 points which can then be multiple by 6.25 to be out of 100. This rubric is broken into the following sections: Display, Demonstration/Presentation, Scientific Thought, and Skill. Each domain has a clear explanation of the expectations for each of the four points that are possible. Check out this fun and engaging project that allows student to develop their understanding of adaptations. This project requires a tool for research such as a computer. Embedded with directions, this project allows students to work individually or collaboratively as they identify a plant or animal to research and understand. Looking specifically at adaptations, students will seek to understand how their adaptation helps them. Included is a reference sheet students will create based on their identified animal or plant as well as a tracking form for students to fill out based on their peers research.

Each question is a short answer question such as identifying the properties of humus and loam as well as thinking through the properties of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rock. Add a level of professionalism and streamline your science fair paperwork with this simple and direct form for students to complete prior to entering science fair. Check out this simple and student-friendly rubric which is meant to be used to evaluate student science journals. The rubric is broken into four categories, of which students can score between a 1 and a 4. Each score for each section includes explicit description of what you need to obtain that score. A guide on the bottom shows how to calculate up to a percentage grade.
