This 30 page booklet comes with a 7 page booklet of behaviour management strategies. The theme for the term 2 booklets is "Under the Sea". The focus books in this booklet are "Tiddler the Story Telling Fish" by Julia Donaldson, and "There's a Sea in my Bedroom" by Margaret Wild. Spelling and word work is based on the words from " Tiddler" and I have made a Quizlet to use to support the teaching of these words. The booklet has sections on hints for relief teachers,reading and literacy, numeracy, thematic work, celebration days for term 2 and a page of suggested apps that are a fantastic addition to your teaching resource kit. It is a based on a true story set in Japan, of a man who would spend his days at a certain time of the year, sweeping the beach. Taro, the young child in the story is fascinated by this, and in time he meets the beautiful turtles when they come onto the beach to lay their eggs. There are some fabulous links to websites in the thematic section of the booklet to support doing a mini unit of work on sea turtles. The focus of this booklet follows on the Under the sea theme, with the focus being on Whales. Dyan Sheldon "The Whales' Song" is beautifully read in a youtube clip, however I recommend buying the picture book to add to your collection. The illustrations in it are stunning, and you can see how closely the illustrator David Blythe and author have worked to bring this story to life. Please view the video above to give you an idea of everything that is incorporated into this unit. There is a lot of scope for information report writing, and persuasive writing within this theme. Year 6 Unit
The Island, by John Heffernan is a wonderful story about a blind boy who sees the beauty of the island he lives on, while the people around him cannot see it. A fantastic story with a link to a narration by the author. Some great links to accelerated literacy activities, and the theme of this booklet investigates our oceans and the threats to our marine life. Lots of links across all KLA's with a fully interactive timetable which links to my pinterest board. This great little bundle comes as a PowerPoint Presentation so that you can insert your own text and make your own reward bands. Perhaps students may like to write a sentence of their own in the blanks.
Reward bracelets are a visible reward which students can proudly wear home and show their parents and carers, or be noticed in the playground.

Since first compiling this resource in 2010, the classroom of the 21st Century has changed rapidly. Collaboration amongst teachers has also evolved, whether it be through Facebook, Blogging, Weeblies , Wiki spaces, Livebinder, Symbaloo, Twitter, Pinterest etc. There is so much on the internet now that at times it can become consuming and slightly overwhelming. I have included more website links and included a description of each website and what you will find there which is new. The activities remain the same.
