Two texts relating to the events on the Domplatz in Köln on New Year's Eve 2015. The first text is a report which outlines the kinds of crimes that were committed and states who the perpetrators were believed to be. The second text relates the views of a German woman of Turkish heritage regarding these events. The texts are followed by questions in German.
Practice of the technical language needed to discuss technical elements of the film. The PPT contains a sequence of slides, each containing images / an image from the film plus a statement about Filmsprache which contains an error. Students must identify, and in some instances correct, the error. After each slide containing an error, the correct statement is revealed.

A sequence of activities relating to the film NORDWAND. (i) Questions in English about the beginning of the film. (ii) Multichoice questions in German about the beginning of the film. (iii) a match-up exercise (iv) a gap-fill (v) an activity in which students must put the main events of the film into the correct order and (vi) a storyboard exercise. NB exercises iii and iv are adapted from an activity uploaded elswhere on the TES by brettl. The second file contains a more challenging re-sequencing activity for more able students.
Summarising activity for students to complete after watching this gripping film about an attempt by German and Austrian climbers to scale the North Face of the Eiger in the 1930s. Students cut up the jumbled summary of the plot and re-arrange the cards in order to re-create the storyline.
