Takes about 20 mins to complete with and nicely covers the key terminolgy of the topic. I use it as part of a revision lesson on the topic. Answers are included.

Student are given various physical data (melting point, solubility, rotation of polarised light, elemental analysis) and spectra (IR, NMR, Mass spec and pH). Students have to pull all the information together to identify the compound. The unknown compound is an amino acid, so it consolidates knowledge on chirality, solubility, zwitterions, pH and then understanding of the various spectroscopic techniques. takes about 10 mins for students to complete, answers are included on the last slide.
