Transition metals - spider diagrams
polarity24polarity24

Transition metals - spider diagrams

(0)
An A-Level Chemistry resource illustrating the reactions of the transition metals as spider diagrams (with ligands like hydroxide ions, ammonia, chloride ions etc). The first resource is spider diagrams which students have to fill in (in word format and prints out automatically in A3 from your computer). To accompany the feedback of answers, an animated Power Point is also included allowing the teacher to go through the answers in more depth, with each answer fading into view on a mouse click. Includes reactions of Copper(II), Chromium(III), Iron(II) and (III) and cobalt(II). The resource is editable and answers are included to every spider diagram in Power Point format.

Shapes of molecules - working it out

(0)
A resource on the A-Level Chemistry concept shapes of molecules (electron pair repulsion theory). Is an information sheet which helps students work out the number of bonding pairs and lone pairs in a molecule and hence determine its shape. Includes a table of the bond pairs, lone pairs, shape, bond angle and examples.

Edexcel chemistry topic 6abc flash cards

(0)
A set of flash cards on the Edexcel A-Level topic 6abc Chemistry of the hydrocarbons. Covers questions on the chemistry of the alkanes and alkenes from topic 6abc including the mechanisms, reactions, conditions and formulae. In Power Point format, the resources will print out ready to go, takes 5 mins to cut out the cards and the resource is formatted so that the answers are printed on the back of the questions. Simply print back to back for question and answer. Theres >100 cue card questions.

polarity24polarity24

Isotopes and relative atomic mass

(1)
An A-Level Chemistry resource on isotopes and relative atomic mass. Includes the definitions of isotope, RAM and relative isotopic mass. Questions require students to identify the particles present in atoms, isotopes and ions. Calculations on determining relative atomic mass (given percentage abundance, relative abundance or relative isotopic mass). Three sections with each section increasing in difficulty. Section three requires students to identify the relative isotopic mass of a species given the relative atomic mass. Suitable for the new 2018 A-Level syllabuses. Answers are included.

Snakes and ladders phonics

(0)
5 Phonics snakes and ladders activities based on CVC and CVCC words, the children have to pronounce each letter/word on the square that they land on. Suitable for children starting at primary school. Each game board increases in difficulty starting with the basics then progressing through CVC and then CVCC.
Calculating pH - Cooperative learning activity

Calculating pH - Cooperative learning activity

(0)
A 20 minute group work activity on calculating pH. Split class into 4 groups, each group containing all levels of ability (so that the brighter students can help the lower ability.) Each group given one of 4 questions to solve. Teacher circulates giving hints where needed. Once each group has solved their question (allow 5-10 mins). students then return to their original seat and have to teach the solution to their question to their colleague. A great way to encourage group work and has always been graded as an outstanding lesson when observed by leadership. Answers are included and a 5th question included at the end of the activity to illustrate progress.
