A financial literacy activity themed around choosing the best offer on cola from three different supermarkets. Designed for Functional Skills Entry Level 3/Level 1 delivery, could be a good Key Stage 3 or even lower ability Key Stage 4 activity to highlight the importance of reading information thoroughly in maths exams.
This activity set was developed for a micro teach for a job interview (I got the job!)
It covers aspects of Functional Skills English and Maths, but could also be adapted as an activity for KS3 lower ability learners, recapping comprehension skills and mathematics skills and knowledge including percentage calculation.
These PowerPoints, along with the self assessment sheet, were put together to deliver a crash course in Functional Skills Level 1 Mathematics to adult learners.
The self assessment sheet allows people to identify their strengths and weaknesses in mathematics. All of the skills and requirements are mapped from the Level 1 Functional Skills curriculum (2016).
The introduction covers what Functional Skills actually is, the topics required by the syllabus, the structure of the exam, rules/requirements concerning equipment and it introduces the self assessment sheet.
