This lesson concentrates on the wide range of evidence available for climate change. It covers the historical evidence, glacial retreat, ice cores, direct temperature readings through to recent changes in sea ice coverage. It is designed to be used with the Oxford Textbook with a graphic organiser linked to the double-page spread but plenty of video links are included for variety and the book is not necessary. but other sources can be used instead. A range of options is included to cover the material, depending on the sources available. A set of resources that cover the opportunities and challenges section of the Urban World Course. These are standalone resources that are designed to be used after both city case studies have been taught to help bring out similarities and differences between cities and help students focus on themes. They can be printed off and used as they are or integrated into structured revision. The use of venn diagrams as graphic organisers help students to separate out the key differences but crucially how challenges such as transport provision are actuall very similar. Then students can be asked to turn the generic statements into specifics for revision purposes. Ideal for use at home.
These can be successfully used with the specific city knowledge organisers, or their own revision notes but will work well with any textbook / revision guide case study. The resource is fully editable so can easily be adapted to fit into your teaching. The Somerset Levels makes a great example due to the prolonged nature of the event and multiple contributing factors.
