What is End Point Assessment?

End Point Assessment (EPA) is the independent assessment by an external organisation that an apprentice must undertake to receive their Level 6 qualification. Once an apprentice is compliant, has successfully completed an Initial Teacher Training (ITT) course and received their QTS certificate, they are ready for Gateway. From the point of registration for Gateway with an End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO), the EPA must be carried out within three months.

In-school visit by our expert team

  • Our independent EPAO assessor will visit your apprentice in school to carry out a lesson observation followed by a short professional discussion about the lesson.

  • After the lesson has been observed the professional discussion will be carried out between the EPAO assessor, apprentice, in-school representative and training provider representative.

  • The discussion will relate to the knowledge, skills and behaviours gained during the apprenticeship relating to the Apprenticeship Standard.

Fees

Fees for our EPA service are agreed during initial scoping conversations with the school and our team. The government levy is used to fund the EPA. Additional fees will apply for re-assessments.

We’ve been an End Point Assessor across England since 2019.

  • From our initial introduction, Joanne has been outstanding, always providing clear and concise communication. Even in the final stages of EPA, from booking appointments with learners and tutors, to confirming final outcome grades, she always provided high quality reports, enabling us to update our systems appropriately. The support and direction I received meant that when placing learners through to Gateway, I knew we were submitting positively, and most importantly, with the upmost compliancy. The quality of service is an extremely high.

  • From the start the communication from Tes was excellent, we were offered guidance on what we were required to do, how we did it and the support that was available. As it was our first time through this process, we really appreciated all the support and rapid response we were given on the lead up to the end point assessments. It was a pleasure to meet Catherine at the assessments, these were conducted professionally but with a really friendly and celebratory air about them as she made sure she congratulated all the apprentices on their achievements so far. The whole experience from start to end was excellent and we look forward to working with you again in the future.
