About Graveney School

Graveney School is a non-denominational, co-educational secondary school with sixth form in Tooting, south-west London. There are 1,970 students aged 11-18 on the school roll, 709 of whom study in the sixth form.

Established in 1986, the school has held academy status since 2011. On joining Graveney, all students are placed into one of three houses: St John's, Ensham and Rosa Bassett. The secondary school is a short distance from Furzedown Primary School.

In February 2020, Graveney was again named by 'The Times' as Wandsworth's top performing secondary school at A-Level, based on an aggregation of the five key accountability measures, including percentage of pupils achieving EBacc, pupil progress, average points per pupil, average grade and average points.

Values and vision

The Graveney motto is "committed to excellence". Teachers provide the structure, encouragement and strategies to inspire and enable students to strive for high achievement in every aspect of their work and development. Additional study sessions are offered to pupils after school and during the holidays, in order to ensure that all have the opportunity to achieve.

Graveney has a long and enviable record of sporting success at local, national and even international level. The school understands the importance of leading an active life and the benefits this brings to pupils’ academic progress. All pupils in KS3 and 4 follow a broad and balanced PE curriculum. Sixth-form students are also provided with a range of opportunities to remain active.

Ofsted report

“The quality of teaching leads to exceptionally strong outcomes for students. There is a team of leading practitioners which impacts upon teaching and learning through professional training and research. For example, this team is leading a project running in collaboration with King’s College, London and a school project on teaching middle-ability students to improve practice.”
