North London Grammar School

North London Grammar School is a mixed, non-denominational, 7-18, independent Prep and Secondary school, situated in Hendon in London.

In 2006, the school was opened as Wisdom School in Tottenham, Haringey, with provision for 100 students. It then moved to a new site in Hendon with state-of-the-art design and technology, and adopted the new name North London Grammar School.

Values and vision

North London Grammar School’s motto is ‘Bonitas, Scientia, Disciplina’ which is Latin for ‘Goodness, Knowledge, and Instruction’. These are the three pillars on which the school is based and they represent its aspirations for each and every one of its students. The school believes every child has a unique ability and it will help them to make the most of it. At the same time, it wants to teach tolerance, understanding, and respect for every person.

The secondary school aims to give students knowledge of the world around them, but more importantly give them the tools to find knowledge themselves. Logic, rationality, and critical thinking are central to its philosophy. It exists to provide teaching and training so that students can gain knowledge and achieve excellence, and it believes this process includes learning discipline, not just obeying the rules, but also self-discipline: knowing how to conduct yourself, stay focused, and ask questions.
