Outwood Academy Acklam became part of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust in 2013 and strives to be an exemplar of best practice for schools across the North East of England. Outwood Academy Acklam is rated Good by Ofsted with Outstanding leadership and we are delighted to be based in the friendly North East town of Middlesbrough.

We are proud that in its report, Ofsted noted that ‘Staff morale is extremely high’ at the academy and that our staff ‘are proud to work at Outwood Academy Acklam’, and highlighted that our staff ‘say that senior leaders listen to and value their opinions.’

We are innovators with a knowledge-rich curriculum, designed to personalise learning for every student, helping them to reach their potential.

We have won numerous awards as a school and we are proud to have been awarded Gold Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award and Inclusion Centre of Excellence by IQM.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.
