About Plymouth High School for Girls

About us

Plymouth High School for Girls is a City selective Grammar school with a good reputation for providing an engaging curriculum within a supportive and encouraging environment.  Students are happy at our school and enjoy the benefits of well taught and engaging lessons along with extensive extra-curricular opportunities.   We are a small school with a friendly feel where people work flexibly and collaboratively to give our students the best possible experience.

Values and Vision

Plymouth High believes as much in preparing its students for life as it does their school years, shown by its slogan “For life, not school, we learn”. It aims to help its students achieve socially, personally and educationally, stressing the importance of the three Rs – respect, resilience and responsibility. The school promotes a caring and supportive atmosphere, and its core values include consideration, tolerance, respect, honesty, integrity and fairness. It is proud of its students, who are encouraged to grow both academically, by following the diverse and balanced curriculum, and as individuals.

Ofsted

“The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection. [The headteacher], senior leaders and governors have a common and accurate view of the school’s strengths and weaknesses. The school development plan is sharply focused to address the identified priorities and work is under way on most of these. [Leaders] have fostered very strong relationships with other agencies to support pupils and their families.”
