Values and vision
The Cottesloe School’s staff are fully committed to maximising the life chances of all of our students by creating a rich, deep, vibrant and challenging learning experience for everyone. Our students benefit from highly qualified and exceptionally committed staff who recognise the importance of creative and challenging teaching, strong pastoral care and have high professional standards.
Our curriculum has carefully designed pathways to make sure it meets the needs of all our students. It provides an excellent range of options in GCSE and A Level qualifications supported by a range of vocational courses.
Prepare, Aspire, Succeed is borne out of a simple philosophy of what we believe is the purpose of education.
Prepare, Aspire, Succeed is what we do - it is what defines us as a school and it encapsulates all that is unique and strong about The Cottesloe School.
A focus on working towards academic excellence across the school is complemented by a commitment to providing the emotional support students need to recognise their potential. This is the purpose of The Cottesloe School’s TEAM Hub (Together Everyone Achieves More) centre. If a Head of Year identifies further support is necessary, interventions such as anger management and stress management are made available through drop in sessions or through professional counselling.
Ofsted
“Leaders are passionate about improving all aspects of the school for the benefit of every student. All staff have worked effectively to embed an ethos of warmth, care and support. Students are rightly proud to belong to their school. Parents are positive about the behaviour of students and say they are managed well. Staff are similarly positive about the behaviour of the students. Parents are overwhelmingly positive about the school and the quality of the education it provides for their children." Location
We would like very much to pass on our thanks to your staff for the positive impact they have had on both of our children during 2020. We wanted both of our children to come to Cottesloe as we were really impressed with how the focus appeared to be on the children's welfare and the belief that a happy child is most likely to reach their own full potential and therefore their wellbeing is paramount, and this certainly has proved to be the case for both of our children.
- Email from parent, December 2020I had the pleasure of sitting with my son last night whilst he did his homework and I'm working along side him today whilst he is remote learning. You have managed to light a flame for him in a subject that he has previously caused him a lot of anxiety and stress so thank you.
- Email from parent, November 2020Virtual parents evening for Sixth Form this evening - worked really well - well done to everyone involved.
- Email from parent, October 2020Thank you for the amazing camp you organised for the Year 7 students. I appreciate the time and effort something like that takes to arrange, especially in these odd times.
- Email from parent, October 2020One of the main attractions to me of your school is the emphasis that seemed to be placed on the care for the individual chilld's happiness. I feel really reassured by the events, trips and the enthusiasm and friendliness of the staff that we have made the right decision.
- Email from parent, September 2019Thank you for the brilliant start to Sixth Form for our daughter. From an incredibly shy young student at Primary, Cottesloe has helped her flourish and become who she is today. She feels respected, she feels valued and is following her heart with subjects she loves.
- Letter from parent, September 2019I wish to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to all of the staff team for their continuous efforts and commitment. Time and time again your school has proved that our son is in the right place to meet his SEN needs. Not only have your staff team cared about his education by their sheer dedication, they have cared about his wellbeing and happiness too.
- Letter from parent, October 2019As a parent of a recently joined Year 7 student I would like to commend your approach to positive feedback and also how you help keep parents informed of that feedback. I can understand the time, effort and cost involved so am very appreciative.
- Email from parent, October 2019Our daughter loves her school and was very proud to be a guide. We are also incredibly happy and grateful to all staff, you are all doing an amazing job!
