About The Langley Heritage Primary
About The Langley Heritage Primary
The Langley Heritage Primary is an oversubscribed, popular two form entry school. It was graded ‘good’ by Ofsted in 2019. The Langley Heritage Primary is part of The Arbib Education Trust which encompasses three schools – The Langley Heritage Primary, The Langley Academy Primary and The Langley Academy Secondary.
Arbib Education Trust Vision
We aim to provide an exceptional education through collaboration, high expectations and learning which prompts curiosity, exploration and discovery. We want our work in “the Arbib way” to be characterised by a determination to discover ways of succeeding. We aim to work as a single community of schools sharing many ideas and investing in the future of every child and student in partnership with their families.
‘One community. Many ideas. Everyone’s Future’
One community – we promote equality, diversity and inclusion, providing ‘a place where you can be yourself’
Many ideas – by valuing different perspectives together we challenge ourselves to discover pioneering teaching approaches
Everyone’s’ Future – We are driven by our commitment to work with our community to ensure we support and prepare our pupils for lifelong learning and success, enabling them to ‘be the best they can be’.
The Langley Heritage Primary Ethos
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are at the heart of the school's ethos and is woven into all aspects of school life. It is our belief that in everything we do, we believe children and people can impact change. That belief in a positive change is the most powerful tool we can hope to give our children.
The Langley Heritage Primary Vision
Proud of our children, proud of our school, proud of our community.
Achievement and high expectations for all through a curriculum defined by the principles of Curiosity, Exploration and Discovery.
We celebrate our diversity and strive for all children to develop the qualities and attributes needed to make a positive contribution to our society.
A community that is kind, respectful and supportive
All children are valued as individuals. Our children are encouraged to be curious, to explore and to discover through play, learning and a wealth of experiences provided outside of the classroom. We promote a holistic approach to learning and provide a range of extra-curricular activities that all children are invited to participate in, from the Junior Duke of Edinburgh Award to a range of sports clubs. A child's journey through our school equips them with the tools needed to be successful in the next stage of their life. Our children are ambitious, resilient and adaptive to our ever-changing world.
Curiosity
We aim for pupils to develop their natural curiosity and desire to find out more. Teachers develop an environment in which pupils share their enthusiasm for learning.
Exploration
Children are encouraged to make use of resources and artefacts around them to explore the possible solutions to their ideas. Staff ensure appropriate support and guidance is given to make this child-led exploration purposeful.
Discovery
Children develop their critical thinking and evaluative skills as they explain the possible outcomes of their explorations. Skilful questioning, led by staff, helps children to interpret their experiences and make sense of their new discoveries, thus supporting learning.
Curiosity, Exploration and Discovery are the keys to successful learning from the youngest minds to the oldest learners. Children learn from real-life experiences, through Curiosity, Exploration and Discovery; concepts are made real to deepen learning and ensure pupils make progress. The Langley Heritage Primary develops these skills from the outset and our Ofsted report fully validates our approach.
Values
Our values clearly support our vision, so that they we can all be the best we can be.
Our values at The Langley Heritage Primary are:
- Unity
- Ambition
- Diversity
- Kindness
- Trust
- Resilience
Curriculum
In everything we do, we believe children and people can impact change. Our curriculum redefines our relationship with teaching and learning through the broad makeup of curriculum subjects, taken from the national curriculum and our exciting enrichment opportunities of Museum Learning and our high stakes projects.
Our curriculum is engaging and purposeful. The curriculum fosters the Museum Learning ethos* of the Trust through a wide range of opportunities including creating exhibitions, visits to museums and use of artefacts to enhance learning experiences. This was recognised in our most recent Ofsted report where it was noted, 'Pupils benefit from the school’s distinctive approach to learning. There is a helpful focus on bringing learning to life, using museum objects, stories, skills and outside learning. Consequently, all pupils benefit from the same experiences.
The Langley Heritage Primary provides an exciting, innovative curriculum where children thrive. This, combined with a team of talented staff who provide exceptional learning experiences for all children, makes TLHP the school for you!
The Arbib Education Trust
The Langley Heritage Primary is one of three schools which are part of The Arbib Education Trust. Being part of The Arbib Education Trust allows us to not only have an academically rigorous education but also gives our pupils exposure to unique and enriching experiences by:
- Providing cultural experiences wherever we can, whether it is trips abroad or to national museums
- Using our network of contacts to mentor and inspire our staff and students
- Instilling our ‘Curiosity, Exploration, Discovery’ model to question the world around them
Our sponsors’ generous funding and their network of business leaders allows us to offer these enriching opportunities to not only our children but also our staff. This enables our community to have exposure to opportunities and experience, they would not get anywhere else.
As one of our staff members said “With the support we get from our sponsor we are able to shape a curriculum and our educational vision that is slightly different from the norm so that the children get the very best opportunities. We wouldn’t be the school we were if it wasn’t for the support of the Trust.”
