Windermere School is unique. Set amidst the stunningly beautiful mountains and lakes of Cumbria, it delivers an exciting and forward-thinking curriculum, shaping the hearts and minds of the next generation. We aim to educate children to be capable and thoughtful, resourceful, courageous and caring. Windermere School is an independent boarding and day school, for boys and girls, from the ages of 3 to 18. Benefiting from its extraordinary location in the heart of the English Lake District it offers a unique education, embracing the IDEALS of the Round Square movement and the International Baccalaureate curriculum. Adventure is part of the curriculum and water sports play a large part in the co-curriculum. Celebrating it’s 100th year at its present site overlooking the glorious Lake Windermere in 2024, the school values its traditions and constantly looks to the future. As a small school, we get to know all our children well and have a dedicated well-being team to help give the very best to every young person in our care.

“A wide range of weekend activities takes place in school, in the surrounding area and elsewhere in the country. Many activities also take place on weekday afternoons and evenings. The school successfully implements its equality and anti-discrimination policy. Food is plentiful and nutritious and includes dishes appropriate to an international community. Appropriate policies are implemented for the care of sick or injured boarders. The school’s provision covers: first aid; chronic conditions and disabilities; emergencies, including those at night-time; and administration of prescribed and non-prescribed medication. The school educates the pupils about e-safety and cyber-bullying.”
