Salary:             £25,000 per annum

Hours:             37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.00am - 4.00pm

Contract:         Permanent, Term time only

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Active Engagement Teacher/Instructor to join our close-knit team at Reddish Hall School located in Stockport.

About the role

We are seeking a flexible and talented teacher to join our team to deliver key subjects across all key stages. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys teaching a mix of subjects and has a flair for being able to deliver interesting, hands on lessons to engage pupils in their learning. Many of our pupils are working below are due to gaps in learning or barriers to learning, and many have had periods of time away from formal learning, so the ability to make learning fun is crucial. The pastoral side of school is one of our strengths, and a key element of the role is as a form tutor. Intervention with individuals or small groups may also be part of the role also. 

For 2024/25, the role involves teaching PE, with the support of our PE department, and Prince’s Trust lessons, which are creative, innovative and support wider learning skills. As the school caters to the needs of the pupils, the teaching requirements may differ from year to year, however, we always play to the strengths and interests of our amazing staff team

The role will involve:

  • Teaching pupils in all subjects under the direction of subject leads
  • Planning and delivering excellent and engaging lessons, suitably differentiated to accommodate all learners
  • Assessing and reporting on pupil progress in accordance with the school’s expectations and policies
  • Attending meetings as and when required
  • Marking and feeding back to pupils as per the school policy
  • The role of the form tutor; communicating with parents and carers and other relevant professionals
  • Other relevant duties in accordance with the role of a teacher
  • Participating in relevant CPD

Desirable

  • QTS (or equivalent), with relevant experience - *Although we would consider a suitable candidate who is not yet a qualified teacher, but interested in pursuing this career.*

Reddish Hall is an independent SEMH school situated in Stockport, meeting the needs of students with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Reddish Hall School is a co-educational school catering for pupils aged 5-18 with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour- all of our young people have an Education Health Care Plan. The school accepts pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs, though they may face additional challenges and diagnoses including ADHD, Asperger’s, SpLD, MLD, OCD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Foetal Alcohol Syndrome or a variety of other conditions. Additionally, many of our pupils have serious social issues and very difficult home lives resulting in complex emotional difficulties.

All pupils attending Reddish Hall School have individual needs that have proved too complex to be addressed within a mainstream setting. The school provides effective support and a suitably differentiated curriculum, enabling them to progress and succeed to the best of their ability.
