The Role

The Admissions Manager (International) provides a professional and engaging admissions experience, building strong relationships with overseas families and educational agents. As the main contact for international parents and agents, they must know the school well and respond to queries efficiently.

They work closely with colleagues to help ensure that the school remains at capacity, and providing regular pupil number reports to the Director of External Relations.

This role is ideal for someone with school admissions experience who thrives in a busy, professional school community. Excellent organizational skills and teamwork are essential, as is a willingness to travel internationally.


Responsibilities:

General 

  • Manage the recruitment of international pupils from initial inquiry to enrolment, providing excellent customer service and serving as the consistent contact for families and agents.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of competitor schools to confidently communicate the KHS difference.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date pupil data on iSAMS.
  • Regularly report the status of international admissions to the Director of External Relations.
  • Work with the Admissions Manager (UK) to ensure a high-quality experience for all parents.
  • Liaise regularly with school staff, including SLT, Heads of Section, Heads of Department, and House Parents.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing strategies to recruit international and UK day pupils and boarders.
  • Alongside the Admissions Manager (UK), oversee the work of the Admissions Assistant.
  • Attend international pupil recruitment events and exhibitions as appropriate, both in the UK and abroad.


The Admissions Experience

  • Coordinate visits for prospective parents, pupils and educational agents. 
  • Meet all families/agents during their visit and provide timely follow up, maintaining a close relationship with both families and agents in order to support healthy conversion rates. This includes the arrangement of online meetings when circumstances are such that families and/or agents are not able to visit the school in person.
  • Organise and brief pupil tour guides in conjunction with the relevant Heads of Section.
  • Coordinate pupil taster days and nights in boarding where appropriate.
  • Working with the Admissions Manager (UK), facilitate entrance examinations and interviews, including group entrance assessments, individual entrance assessments and online testing. 
  • Request references/reports from existing schools and share them with relevant staff members as appropriate.
  • Liaise with the SENCo regarding pupils needing learning support who wish to be considered for entry.
  • Send formal offer communications along with acceptance forms, requesting deposits and liaising with the Bursary as required in respect of fees, deposits and payments.
  • Work with the Admissions Manager (UK) to maintain and update the House lists, placing new pupils in the right Houses and ensuring that numbers remain consistent.
  • Oversee the arrival, and welcome into School, of new International parents and pupils, including providing new parents with all the information (handbooks, uniform lists, fee information etc.) that they require prior to their child joining the School.
  • Assist with the completion of annual censuses as required by such bodies as ISC and the DfE.


School Events

  • Support the Director of External Relations with the arrangement and successful implementation of Open Mornings, Scholarship Information Days, Admissions events, etc.


International Engagement

  • Work closely with the Director of External Relations to create and implement an effective International engagement strategy in order to generate and convert a sustained level of high-quality enquiries from overseas.
  • Work with the Director of External Relations to identify and build relationships with suitable Education Agents in order to recruit overseas pupils from a diverse range of countries and year groups.
  • Act as the first point of contact for Educational Agents and develop the way that we work with them to cultivate good relationships and help to increase the number of overseas boarding pupils.
  • Understand the differing cultural values in each overseas geographical area and advise senior leaders ahead of international visits.
  • Provide market intelligence on established and emerging markets for strategic planning purposes.
  • Make recommendations to improve the academic and co-curricular programme offer to enhance Kingham Hill School’s attraction to the global market.
  • Be a prominent public representative in the overseas market undertaking regular travel and promoting the values, attributes and aims of Kingham Hill School.
  • Build relationships with agents via exhibitions, recruitment fairs and meeting current and potential families.
  • Manage agency agreements and maintain records of interaction with agents.
  • Maintain the School’s BBSW profile to create a marketing platform with overseas agents.
  • Gather information about overseas pupils’ achievements and success to feedback to agents and use for marketing purposes.
  • Work with the Marketing & Communications Executive to manage the international aspects of the school website and any international promotion of the school via social media. 
  • Provide administrative support for any Immersion or Internationally focussed taster programmes being run by the School, and identify opportunities to market boarding opportunities for repeat custom.
  • To be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance for international student recruitment, ensuring all UKVI requirements are met, with support from the Admissions Assistant
  • Maintain a close relationship with Sable, the school’s UK Visa Consultants, ensuring that the Visa application process works smoothly for students joining KHS from overseas.

Kingham Hill is a thriving, independent, co-educational, boarding and day school of approximately 350 pupils between the ages of 11 and 18. There are twelve Houses, eight for boarders and four for day pupils.  Pupils are very well known and supported individually in relation to their academic progress and personal development. Recent capital developments include a new Library, Science & Mathematics building, Sports Centre, and Theatre.

Entry to the School is normally at 11+, 13+ and into the Sixth Form. The School is one of only two accredited schools in the UK that are able to offer the American High School Diploma alongside a traditional British education.
