Job overview

We are seeking to recruit a positive, reliable and proactive individual to join the friendly team at King's Hawford Prep School as an After-School Supervisor.

Our co-curricular programme and after-school care is hugely popular. Alongside a full programme of clubs and activities running every day, we offer a daily quiet independent study session and supervised and directed indoor and outdoor play.

The successful candidate will work 12.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only, from 3.30 - 6pm each day. This is a part-time, permanent position.

Role and responsibilities

  • Supervise children on arrival, and throughout their time at after-school care.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to health and safety, implementing playground rules and expectations.
  • Take responsibility for the registration and sign-out of children at after-school care.
  • Communicate any pastoral issues to other staff on duty and to parents or guardians at pick-up.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment for all children, providing a range of activities.
  • Attend to any minor first-aid issues as necessary.

Safeguarding responsibilities of the successful candidate

Staff are advised to maintain an attitude of “it could be happening here and probably is” as far as safeguarding is concerned and should always act in the best interest of the child.

All staff are expected to actively promote and safeguard the welfare of all pupils. As this post involves significant contact with children and the postholder will be responsible for children, they will be considered to be in regulated activity and must report any concerns in a timely manner.

All staff must also attend annual safeguarding training and have proper regard for the School’s safeguarding policy and procedures.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of working in a school or with children in a similar setting.
  • Willingness to support the King’s Foundation’s Mission and Values.
  • Professional, positive and enthusiastic approach to work.
  • Punctual and well-presented.
