Job overview
The Sir Robert Woodard Academy, an Ofsted ‘good’ rated academy and part of the Woodard family of schools, is a dynamic and popular 11–18 academy located between Worthing and Brighton, serving the students of Lancing, Sompting and Shoreham.
Our aim is that every student is known and nurtured and is provided with teaching and learning experiences enabling them to fulfil their potential. We believe that students succeed when the environment is caring and orderly, with teaching that fires the imagination and brings learning to life.
We are seeking a talented, enthusiastic and creative Art Teacher, with excellent subject knowledge, to join our vibrant and successful Art department, on a permanent and full time basis from September 2025. QTS is essential. The ability to teach photography and / or textiles at Key Stage 4 and 5 would be desirable.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an excellent team, who are passionate about achieving student success and expanding the department to raise the profile of the subject - both within the school and in the wider community. Uptake at GCSE is regularly above national average and our 2024 cohort celebrated an 81% pass rate of 4 and above in GCSE Fine Art, with this year’s group predicted to achieve 92%. We also offer both Fine art and Photography A-Level at KS5.
The Academy is purpose built with outstanding facilities, including a dark room and kiln. Our students benefit from an exciting extra-curricular programme as well as the Academy being a registered provider of the Arts Award offering Bronze and Silver to our KS3 students. The department enjoys close relationships with local art communities by running exciting and varied art workshops. We also run a KS5 Art, 3D Design and Photography trip to London’s South Bank.
At SRWA, our people are at the heart of our success. We have developed a strong culture of collaboration and best practice, with professional development and career planning at its centre. We invest in our staff with wellbeing support, coaching, mentoring and a wide range of top-quality training and CPD programmes delivered at every level up to senior leadership.

"Pupils, parents and carers feel proud of their school…one parent told us ‘we are really impressed with the school, the ethos and the staff’.”
