Job overview

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, positive and hard-working Assistant Caretaker to join our dedicated team of staff at Wheelock Primary School.

We are looking for someone who can identify and address daily maintenance issues, as well as having a vision for the long-term improvement of the school and its grounds. We need someone who sets high standards and works to maintain them at all times. The successful candidate will need to use their initiative to tackle issues as they arise and to work affectively with staff, contractors and suppliers and demonstrate effective communication skills. The role will involve cleaning duties as well as daily checks to ensure the school is secure, clean and everything is in place ready for the start of the day.

Experience of managing health and safety and a knowledge of relevant legislation would be an advantage as the role will also involve working with our Site Maintenance and Compliance Officer to ensure the school is fully compliant. An ability to use a computer will be necessary as all our Health and Safety documents are stored in an online management system.

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of our successful and forward-thinking primary school. Wheelock is part of the Learning Partnership Multi Academy Trust (MAT) and the Trust offers outstanding opportunities for peer learning and development.

This post is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure Certificate. Stringent Checks and Vetting Procedures apply to all posts as part of our Safeguarding Policy.

In return we will offer the successful candidate:

• A welcoming school with friendly, enthusiastic and supportive staff

• Inquisitive and self-motivated children to inspire

• Staff benefits

• Employee Assistance Programme

If you would like an informal discussion about the post, please contact officemanager@wheelock.cheshire.sch.uk
