Job Title:       Assistant Headteacher: Behaviour & Attitudes/DSL

Salary:           £42,000 per annum 

Location:        Longdon Park School, Egginton, DE65 6GU

Hours:            37.5 hours per week, Mon/Tue/Thurs & Fri 8.00-16.00; Wed 8.00-17.00

Contract:        Permanent, Term time only

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Assistant Headteacher: Behaviour & Attitudes/DSL to join the team at Longdon Park School located in Egginton.

About the role

The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people with a range of complex learning needs. You will be able to demonstrate a working understanding of how these needs impact upon learning and behaviour in the classroom.

Working with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, you will ensure the school has effective management and the required team capability to further develop and continually improve.

• Support the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher with the leadership and management of the school in order to promote effective education and care and contribute to the learning, personal development and well-being of all students.
• Be an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) discharging individual responsibilities to a high standard as well as supporting the work of the team at all times.
• Work closely with the Headteacher, SLT and colleagues to ensure the school is compliant with statutory regulation.

General responsibilities:

• Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils and young people.
• Work in accordance with professional practice, statutory and legal requirements and the policies of the School.
• Line manage middle leadership staff and act as a Team Leader for Performance Management.
• Reflect on their personal contribution to school achievements and take account of feedback from others.
• Take on specific tasks related to the day to day administration and organisation of the school.
• Take whole school responsibility for specific areas of work which will be reviewed annually.
• Take on any additional responsibilities which might from time to time be determined.

Essential:

• Qualified Designated Safeguarding Lead
• Willingness to extend personal and professional development
• Holds a Teaching qualification and Qualified Teacher status
• Experience of OFSTED meetings and process
• Leadership and management experience gained in middle management post
• Demonstrated ability to engage positively and effectively with young people presenting complex learning needs
• Experience of School Improvement processes and practice
• Experience of recruiting, managing and inducting staff
• Experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working

Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle required.

Longdon Park School opened in June 2015.  We are a co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 7 to 18 with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour primarily with a diagnosis of ASD. We provide a therapeutic, supportive and inclusive learning environment where our young people learn to accept responsibility for their actions, make positive decisions and display pro-social behaviour.
