Oscott Manor School is looking to appoint an exceptional Assistant Headteacher to join a developing leadership team comprising of a recently appointed Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, Strategic Business Manager, Inclusion Leaders and Learning Leaders.  Our school is a vibrant and welcoming community special school for pupils aged between 11 and 19 with autism as their primary diagnosis. We are proud to be a Unicef Rights Respecting School holding the gold award. 

All our pupils have an education, health and care plan and may have persistent difficulties with social interaction, social communication or understanding emotions. Such differences can significantly impact their access to the curriculum. Our ambitious curriculum intends to develop knowledge and skills and prepare pupils for adulthood, teaching them to be ready, respectful and safe and become independent.

We are looking for someone who is keen to take the next steps in their career and who is aspiring to be a headteacher in the future. There will be rich opportunities for supported professional growth and development. We are looking for someone who is relentless in their pursuit of positive outcomes for young people and willing to lead by example to effectively role model what they expect of others.

This is post carries a teaching responsibility and the teaching load will be approximately 5 hours per week. You must have high expectations in relation to individual progress and an uncompromising ambition for all pupils to succeed.

Partnership working is a crucial element of this role and you must have proven experience of building and maintaining successful stakeholder relationships. This role is unsuitable for people who lack experience of working with young people with autism spectrum conditions.
