The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Associate Principal – Inclusion to lead the strategic development of our inclusion policies and practices. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will act as the SENDCo and lead on the provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of students, promoting an inclusive learning environment that supports all learners.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of SEND and Inclusion policies in line with statutory requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) and statutory assessments.
  • Provide leadership to the SEND team, including Teaching Assistants and Learning Support staff.
  • Oversee the effective use of resources and manage the SEND budget.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and maintain a teaching commitment.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, parents, and carers to ensure the best outcomes for students with SEND.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status and a National Award for SEND Coordination (or a willingness to obtain it).
  • Proven experience in a SENDCo or leadership role within SEND/Inclusion.
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

Huish Episcopi Academy is a large, non-selective, mixed secondary school for pupils aged 11-18 based in the heat of the Somerset Levels with a large catchment area. We are proud to be part of United Learning.  At Huish, we offer the full national curriculum to all students with opportunities for our pupils to engage in a broad range of additional activities in sports, music, and the creative arts. It is our aim to develop rounded individuals who are not only academically successful, but who also have opportunities to develop their character education, such as leadership, teamwork, and communication. Our sixth form provides pupils with aspirational courses that allows them to pursue university places or employment after school. Systems within school focus on allowing disruption-free teaching with the notion of continuous improvement underpinning all we do.
