About Ss John Fisher and Thomas More Roman Catholic High School

Fisher More is conveniently located at the end of the M65 in the picturesque setting of Pendle Hill and the surrounding countryside in East Lancashire. Nearly every classroom in the school has an amazing view of the lovely rural landscape that surrounds the school.

It is an extremely friendly, warm and welcoming community; a community in which everyone is actively encouraged "to let all their bright colours shine". This manifests itself in the nurturing of the gifts and talents which are present in all members of the community. It is a very good place to work; it is a very good place to study.

Year on year we are a highly over-subscribed school, receiving many more applications than we have places. This results from our excellent reputation in the local area for our high expectations (behaviour, attendance, punctuality) coupled with all our achievements and successes. We consistently out-perform our neighbouring schools with results of which we are rightly extremely proud, and which are testament to everyone's hard work and commitment.

We have an extensive and enviable range of extra-curricular opportunities, both in school and the local community. We have fostered and developed very productive relationships with our partner primaries, local high schools and colleges and parishes. As a result of their success, all our pupils go on towards apprenticeships or college/further study.

We are proud to have full size 3G Astroturf pitch on site.  This is the only full size Football Foundation accredited pitch in East Lancashire and is available for use by both the school and teams from the local community. Other recent building works have included a remodel and expansion to our Learning Resource Centre and a full refurbishment to our PE changing rooms.  Excitingly, in October 2023 we embarked on a large expansion project, to allow us to increase our cohort from 750 to 900 pupils.  The plans include two additional science laboratories, six new classrooms and a full refurbishment of the school kitchen and extension to the dining facilities which should all be completed by September 2024.

Our explicit commitment to inclusivity, respect, forgiveness and 'family' ensures all members of the school community, whether adult or child, have a true sense of value and worth.

There is a commitment from all staff to 'go the extra mile'. As a school we are rightly proud of all we have achieved on our improvement journey together. We are always looking at ways to grow and develop further and welcome anyone who wishes they can contribute to that by enriching our community through 'letting all their bright colours shine'.
