Do you have experience of working with young people aged 3 – 11?

St Teresa's are looking for an experienced Attendance and Education Welfare Officer to devise and implement strategies to achieve and maintain excellent levels of attendance across the school.

You will proactively be assisting parents to fulfil their legal responsibilities so that children are able to receive an education appropriate to their age, aptitude and ability and any special educational needs they might have.

You will be visiting families and working with pastoral leaders in school.

This is a permanent role working for 7.5 hours per week, term time only.

You will:

  • Be highly motivated and a good team player with enthusiasm, high expectations and good interpersonal skills.
  • Liaise with and advise key staff with respect to attendance data management systems; and to ensure that such systems are ‘fit for purpose’ and run efficiently.
  • Monitor and report on whole-school attendance data, analysing data to identify areas of concern.
  • Work closely with pupils, staff, parents / carers and external agencies to reduce levels of absence, and act appropriately when persistent absence becomes a safeguarding issue.
  • Liaise with the relevant local authority agencies, including early help, to ensure punctuality and attendance are in line with or better than national average.
