About St Luke's Church of England Primary School

St Luke’s Church of England Primary is a school where individuals are valued and helped to achieve their personal best. Children are supported in becoming confident and independent young people, who thrive on challenge, and are motivated to learn. All schools have their own distinctive ‘feel’ which makes each one unique. We believe that the ‘family feel’ at St Luke’s comes from our caring, supportive and friendly environment. St Luke’s benefits from having lovely outdoor spaces including a large field with a forest school area, hard pitch and a nature area with a pond.

Committed to children’s well-being, achieving high standards and providing the very best opportunities for all in our care. Staff, supported by governors, work hard to deliver a rich and challenging curriculum; to prepare children for future education; and to help them acquire the skills and enthusiasm needed to embrace the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life. This continues to be recognised beyond the school through the external awards that celebrate our excellent practice.

The excellent start begins in our new Nursery and continues through the school with staff providing a happy, supportive and purposeful environment, and a curriculum that excites and stimulates children’s imaginations and creative thinking. Our children are engaged and enthusiastic learners and benefit from a broad, balanced and creative curriculum. We endeavour to help learners have an understanding not only of British culture, but of cultures around the world. We live in a global age, and to be successful, our learners need to have a clear understanding of what respect, tolerance and diversity means. We actively promote British Values and recognise their place in our own expectations and vision.

There are many opportunities for children to take part in music and sport and the curriculum is enriched by trips and visits in every year group. St Luke’s is indeed an inclusive school, meeting the needs of all pupils in a supportive and respectful environment. We are a school that sets high standards and strives for academic excellence through everything we do. Community activities and a wide range of after-school clubs further add to the opportunities available to our children.

The school was last inspected by Ofsted in May 2023.
