St Joseph’s are currently seeking a Class Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Trust at the beginning of a journey of transition, development, and growth within the multi-academy trust

Do you love working with young children? Are you passionate about delivering a high quality curriculum that meets the need of all pupils? Do you have initiative, energy and enthusiasm? Do you thrive in a busy and ever-changing environment? If yes, then this exciting opportunity to work at St Joseph’s is right for you.

We require for January 2025 a class teacher, who will initially be placed within a Year 3 setting. The successful candidate will therefore have an excellent understanding the National Curriculum to take on class teacher responsibility in one of our Year 3 classes here at St Joseph’s. This post provides the opportunity to work within a two form entry school, alongside year partners and also closely with a highly experienced leadership team to also provide support.

As a Catholic school, our staff live out our Christian values and visions through their daily interactions with our children and each other. These Gospel values are central to the role of teacher within Catholic Education and at St Joseph’s we aim to develop our children in all aspects of their lives, so that they are provided with a strong faith, the skills and knowledge to take with them throughout their lives; enabling them to live life to the full. We are just as committed to our staff, who we are dedicated to developing and supporting on whichever career path they choose. Being a baptised Roman Catholic is not an essential criteria, but the commitment to the formation of our children within the Catholic faith is. Full support and, where needed, training will be provided for a successful candidate who has clearly shown this commitment.

St Joseph’s are part of a St Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Academy Trust, this provides teachers with the chance to strengthen practice through cross-school work and seek experiences beyond our own school. The Headteacher and her Senior Leadership Team are committed to developing staff through access to high quality professional development and mentorship.

Our Mission

Our Trust Mission is simple, it is to make Christ known, making lives better for our communities, our children and young people

Purpose of the role:

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational, enthusiastic teaching professional who can work as part of our dedicated and exceptional team. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate the ability to meet the Teachers’ Standards. All classroom teachers will contribute to the curriculum and year teams in supporting the school’s mission statement and achieving its aims. As a professional within a Catholic School, you will be expected to enhance the life of the school by delivering and developing high quality teaching and learning, contributing to the work of the teams of teaching and support staff, being reflective about your own practice and effectiveness: sharing with, and learning from the work of others, and constantly seeking ways to improve through innovation and research.

We are seeking an individual who:

  • Is committed to upholding and promoting the unique ethos of our Catholic school
  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner, with a clear understanding of teaching, learning and assessment in KS1 and KS2 and has high expectations of pupils’ achievement and behaviour
  • Is able to ensure excellence and enjoyment for all children through creative, interesting and engaging teaching and learning experiences
  • Is able to create a learning environment that allows for purposeful independent learning in the classroom

  • Has a strong commitment to their own learning and professional development

We can offer:

  • A supportive and dedicated Local Governing Body and Staff
  • Highly effective safeguarding procedures.
  • A working environment where all feel valued and respected.
  • Supportive colleagues and governors with a clear vision and high aspirations for the school.
  • A highly dedicated and inspirational team.
  • A commitment to relevant, personalised Continuous Professional Development.
  • A happy, calm and welcoming working environment.
  • Opportunities to work within the wider STOCCAT team
  • Teachers’ Pension Scheme

Prospective candidates are warmly welcomed to visit the school.

We welcome applicants from all communities and from people that identify with those characteristics.

Commitment to Safeguarding:

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1074 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). All appointments will be subject to an enhanced DBS check including Children’s barred list check and satisfactory references, including your suitability to work with children. Information provided by you or the Disclosure and Barring Service will be dealt with in a confidential manner in accordance with the DBS's Code of Practice. You may view the Code of Practice on the DBS website at www.gov.uk/dbs or alternatively a copy is available on request. Applications will only be considered from individual applicants on our standard application form, and not via CV alone or agencies.
