We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, flexible and self-motivated person to work part-time in our busy Design and Technology department. A specialist knowledge of working with timber or metal is essential and a working knowledge of Health & Safety policy and procedures is also essential.
We welcome applications from experienced school D&T Technicians along with people newer to the role. Full training will be provided and you will be supported by experienced staff.
The department are very proud of the D & T facilities at Thomas Alleyne’s High School. The department have an excellent variety of traditional tools and equipment alongside some of the most modern CAD CAM machinery which include Laser Cutting and 3D Printing. Facilities include a large multimedia workshop area, ICT Suite, 2 Graphic/general teaching rooms and a large materials preparation room.
The department currently has 3 full time permanent teaching staff and one part time food technician all of whom are specialists and have a wealth of knowledge and experience. The department is proud of its integration and common approach throughout 3 of the materials area, (Graphic Products, Resistant Materials and Food & Nutrition). The department has consistently achieved very good results at GCSE for a number of years now.
The Design and Technology department plays a key role in the extra-curricular life of Thomas Alleyne’s. Staff members are involved in many different activities including Young Engineers, Green Power Go Kart, First Lego League and other various competitions and clubs.
