We are looking for an organised and reliable Deaf Inclusion Worker (DIW) to join our school office! Could that be you?

You will play a crucial role in supporting the inclusion of a deaf student, on a 1:1 basis, within the school, ensuring they have full access to the curriculum and school activities through effective communication support, advocacy, and awareness-raising.

 About the Role and You

Contract type: Part Time, Two days a week, 8am -5pm one day, 8am – 4pm the other, (8am - 5pm to include a BSL Club)

Salary: £16.27 per hour, based on experience and skills

Start date: September 2024

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver the KS3 and KS4 curriculum using a combination of English and full BSL to ensure the student has complete access to educational content.
  • Adapt and differentiate lesson materials to meet the individual needs the of student.
  • To manage the use of the Assisted Listening Devices on a daily basis and encourage student independence in managing their processor equipment.
  • Provide BSL and/or cued speech interpreting services during classes, meetings, and school events
  • Facilitate effective communication between deaf students and their peers, teachers, and staff.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Minimum competent Level 3 BSL qualification (up to level 6) / Level 2 Cued Speech qualification
  • Previous experience within a similar role.
  • Additional qualifications in deaf education or related fields is desirable
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in an educational setting, particularly in a prep or senior school environment.

Trinity School is an independent, co-educational, all-through school for children aged 3-19 years old. It is situated in Teignmouth, Devon, and has approximately 490 day and boarding pupils. Bursaries and scholarships are available.
