St David’s School offers an English Education, with an international flavour, to children between 3 and 11 years of age, in Ramstein, Germany. St David’s School is a welcoming and lively community school with numbers on roll varying between 60-80 pupils, depending on military assignments. Classes are structured in mixed year groups with four class teachers, an Assistant Headteacher (AHT) and the Head Teacher.

The AHT is a senior leader within the school with whole school responsibilities, including SENDCO, line management and regular teaching commitments. Leading by example, modelling best practice, and working with teachers and support staff to constantly improve provision.

St David’s School is looking for a suitably experienced Assistant Headteacher to join a team whose culture and activity are driven by the core belief that every child should achieve their potential.

The purpose of the job is:

  • Lead and contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school’s policies, School improvement Plan, practices, and procedures, to support the school’s values and vision.
  • Lead on performance as line manager for staff, ensuring that they are supported, valued, and held to account for their performance.
  • Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.
  • Lead and co-ordinate aspects of the curriculum offer ensuring intent, implementation and impact is consistently successful across the school.
  • Lead and participate in the monitoring and evaluation of quality of education being achieved across the school.
  • Leading whole school events including regular assemblies, enhanced curriculum activities and parent workshops
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of the school's SEND strategy and policy.
  • Carry out assessments of pupils with SEND to identify needs and monitor progress - including observations in the classroom and meeting with teachers and parents.
  • Work with classroom teachers, the school leadership team, parents, and relevant external agencies to develop, implement and monitor individual support/learning plans.
  • Provide regular updates on pupil progress through written reports and meetings with parents.
  • Make referrals and liaise with professionals outside of the school such as educational psychologists, health and social care providers and speech, language therapists and educational social workers.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and training to classroom teachers on supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Support teachers to develop and implement effective teaching and behaviour management approaches in the classroom.
  • Develop and maintain systems for keeping pupil records, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
  • Analyse school, local and national data and develop appropriate strategies and interventions.
