Desborough College is an all-boys (with girls in the 6th form), comprehensive school in Maidenhead, characterised by excellent pastoral care and an ever-growing Widening Horizons programme of extra-curricular activities. In line with the values to invest and collaborate, Pioneer Educational Trust provides additional time for professional development and collaborative working in the form of CPDL Wednesdays. On these days, the pupils finish their school day one hour earlier to facilitate two hours of back-to-back learning and team work for all staff, teaching and non-teaching. During this time, colleagues have time to produce collaborative planning, moderate, share best practice as well as receive formalised programmes of CPDL.
The school offers free refreshments to staff during the school day. The Trust also provides an Employee Assistance Programme to all staff within the Trust Schools. Through this, staff can access support and advice on any number of things such as wellbeing, work-related issues, housing, family, financial and legal support. There is also an employee benefit scheme which offers savings and discounts across a number of well-known retailers and services. Staff across the Trust can also receive a free, annual flu vaccination. The Trustees are also active in recognising years of service for staff. Service is designed to reward loyalty to the school and recognises those who have accrued between 3 and 30 years of service.

About Desborough College
Desborough College is a thriving and rapidly growing secondary school for boys, with a co-educational Sixth Form. We have a strong and inclusive ethos and high expectations in terms of behaviour and attainment for all. Our school is situated a short walk from Maidenhead train station with good links to London and Reading. It is situated in Maidenhead in Berkshire, and there are 889 students in total.

Values and vision
Desborough College’s crest reads “Strenuis Ardua Cedunt”, which translates as “Difficulties Yield to Diligence”. The school values single-sex education and believes that this provides a learning environment in which boys can thrive and excel.
The secondary school has links with Radley College, another boys’ school. This partnership offers the students of Desborough College unique opportunities to participate in activities with Radley’s staff and students, including joint lectures, sports coaching sessions and other extra-curricular activities.
Desborough College has four houses, promoting a healthy competitive edge between each house. The school endeavours to ensure each individual completes their school life with courage, respect, a good sense of fun, honesty, integrity and humility.

“Students are happy in the college and say they feel safe and enjoy lessons. Their behaviour is consistently good and they are always willing to work together in lessons. Their enjoyment of school is supported by high attendance figures. Teachers have made good and rapid progress in raising standards across all year groups. Teaching is good overall and there is some that is outstanding in mathematics, drama and art.”
