Job Overview:

The Deputy Head of Programme plays a pivotal role in supporting the Head in the leadership and management of the primary programme. This position requires a dynamic and experienced educator who can assist in overseeing the academic program, staff development, and daily operations. The Deputy Head will work closely with teachers, students, and parents to ensure a high standard of education and well-being for all students.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Strategy: Assist the Head in developing and implementing the school's strategic plan. Provide leadership in curriculum development, assessment, and the integration of educational technologies.
  • Staff Management and Development: Support the recruitment, induction, and professional development of teaching and support staff. Conduct performance appraisals and mentor staff to promote high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Curriculum and Academic Oversight: Oversee the delivery of the curriculum to ensure it meets international standards and the diverse needs of students. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning, curriculum implementation, and student achievement.
  • Student Welfare and Discipline: Work with staff to create a safe and supportive learning environment. Oversee student welfare policies, including behavior management, safeguarding, and pastoral care.
  • Parental Engagement: Strengthen communication and engagement with parents and the wider school community. Participate in parent meetings, informational sessions, and school events.
  • Operational Management: Assist in the daily operations of the school, including scheduling, resource allocation, and facility management. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Promote innovation in teaching and learning strategies. Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in academic standards and student outcomes.
  • School Representation: Represent the primary programme and participate in school-wide leadership meetings. Act as a point of contact for the Head of Programme in his/her absence.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education,iPGCE or a related field, with a focus on educational leadership or administration preferred.
  • Qualified Teacher Status with extensive teaching experience, preferably in an international or multicultural environment.
  • Proven experience in a leadership or management role within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and current educational best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead and inspire a team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Competency in using educational technology and data to enhance learning and operational efficiency.

 

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time position that may require additional hours, including evenings and weekends, to fulfill the duties associated with the role.
  • The Deputy Head of Programme will work in both office and classroom settings and participate in school events and activities.
