Location: Clifton Moor, York
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Diocese of York in a senior leadership capacity where our vision is to be a diocese that is Living Christ’s Story with the key ministry of linking schools, households and churches.
As Director of Education with significant experience of senior leadership in educational contexts, you will oversee an energetic professional team. You will have a uniquely placed role in seeking, forming and fostering the relationships that will help to make our diocesan vision a reality among people of all ages and situations through serving over 120 schools in North and East Yorkshire.
You will provide strategic leadership in the Education team by:
- Being a passionate and well-informed advocate for the church’s engagement with children and young people, including its work in schools.
- Inspiring, enthusing and influencing the Diocese to value children and young people in its schools and churches in line with the desire of the Diocese of York to ‘grow younger and more diverse’.
- Embracing changing government policy and Church of England policies for education and taking advantage of the opportunities to promote the mission of the Diocese through education.
- Providing high quality advice for schools and other relevant institutions: ensuring all are clear that the church and its schools work to make known God’s presence and love in the world.
- Ensuring the voice, creativity and views of children and young people are heard, valued and celebrated at all levels within the Diocese.
You must inter alia:
- Be a practising Christian, able to articulate clear support for the Church of England’s ministry and mission in general and for schools, churches and households in particular,
- Hold a University degree and Qualified Teacher Status
- Have a good knowledge and understanding of SIAMS and Ofsted
- Understand the governance relating to Church schools, DBEs, MATs and educational trusts.
