South Hampstead High School, the Independent Girls’ School of the Year 2022, is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced musician as Director of Music.

As Director of Music, you will play a pivotal role in the professional leadership and management of the Music Department to ensure the highest standards of learning and achievement for all pupils.

Your responsibilities will include teaching Music throughout the school, overseeing co-curricular activities and rehearsing and conducting ensembles, and overseeing the effective management of staff and resources in the department.

You will be an accomplished musician, possess excellent organisational and administrative skills, and have the ability to inspire pupils and staff alike with a love of music of all kinds.

The skills to manage a busy department and encourage the highest standards in teaching and learning at every level are essential.

You will also need to be familiar with music technology and be prepared to lead pupils on visits out of school in the UK and abroad.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 5th November 2024 at 9am.

First round interviews will take place on Monday 11th November 2024.

Second round interviews will take place on Thursday 21st November 2024.

Those invited for the first round will be asked to plan and teach a lesson. Those invited back for the second round will be asked to conduct senior musicians in an orchestra/choir.

The school may also conduct online searches (including publicly available social media searches) as part of our recruitment processes.
