Rossendale School is recruiting for a Driver/Escort (Pupil Transport) to join our team now!


Rossendale is a day school catering for the needs of pupils aged from 7 – 18 years of age who are autistic and academically able. All pupils have a draft or final Education, Health and Care Plan.


Some of the roles and responsibilities of this role are:

  • To drive a school vehicle and to be the escort in a school vehicle, for the collection of pupils from home to school (am) and from school to home (pm). The number of pupils in a vehicle can vary from 1-6.
  • To ensure the pupils have a safe and pleasant journey to/from school and arrive at the destination calm and settled.
  • To carry out daily/routine maintenance checks of the vehicle as required.
  • To ensure the interior of the vehicle is kept clean and tidy.
  • To ensure the first aid and spillage kits are replenished when items are used.
  • To report any pupil concerns immediately to the Head Teacher and using online reporting tools.
  • To use Positive Behaviour Support strategies to manage pupils’ behaviour.
  • To attend Driver/Escort meetings.


The hours for this role will be 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7.00am – 9.00am and 2.45pm – 5.45pm. You will also need to attend 5 inset days each year, which will be full training days.


Due to the location and requirements of the role, all applicants must hold a full UK driving licence.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years driving experience.
  • Be over 21 years of age for insurance purposes.

Rossendale is a school catering for the needs of pupils whose learning disability may be affected by an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The School provides education for young people aged from 7 – 18 years of age. Our Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 are based on the main school site, whilst Key Stage 5 have a specialist sixth form building based in the local community. At Key Stage 4 and 5 we offer a wide range of GCSE subjects, BTEC Awards, Functional Skills, ASDAN and Entry Level qualifications. We currently want to expand A level courses at the sixth form provision. The school admits boys and girls on both daily and residential placements.
