English Coordinator – Secondary Department

Essential requirements & skills:

  • A relevant teaching qualification: B.Ed., BA/BSc + PGCE/QTS in English.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent teaching experience in the English subject area.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leading experience in the English subject aream IGCSE & AS LEVEL teaching.
  • Strong expertise in secondary English teaching methodologies and curriculum development.
  • Experience with English as an additional language (EAL) learners.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of current educational practices, including the integration of technology in the classroom.
  • Applicants must be under 50 years of age due to local employment regulations.
  • A commitment to promoting literacy and enhancing language acquisition for students with varied learning needs.
  • Proficiency in leading departmental strategies and collaborating on cross-curricular initiatives.

Responsibilities of the English Coordinator:

  • Overseeing the development and delivery of a high-quality English curriculum, in line with both the British National Curriculum and school-wide standards.
  • Supporting the strategic vision of the principal and working with Head of Department to ensure alignment with QNSA and CIS accreditation standards.
  • Leading the professional development of English teachers, fostering best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Monitoring and evaluating student progress, ensuring that individual learning needs are addressed.
  • Collaborating with the SEND and EAL departments to promote inclusive learning strategies across the school.
  • Coordinating departmental activities and managing the integration of innovative teaching resources.
