Values and vision

The Hawthorne’s Free School believes that all of its students can achieve excellence if they work hard enough and have the right support. This is why the school uses smaller class sizes than many other schools and why it has dedicated itself to employing highly qualified teachers with proven track records. The school wishes to develop Independent learners who understand their strengths, abilities and interests and are capable of utilising and applying critical and creative thinking to reason through and solve complex problems. There is also a desire to foster Intellectual habits amongst students, such as fierce concentration, thoroughness, accuracy, strategic thinking and intellectual volition. The school also wishes to develop strong characters who have clear established principles that, if acted upon consistently, produce virtuous behaviours, compassionate acts and honest answers and decisions in facing up to life’s challenges.
