WHGS is seeking to appoint enthusiastic and committed Exam Invigilators on a casual contract basis.  

 

Reporting to the Exams Officer, the main duties will include the following (also see Job Description)

 

  • To conduct examinations in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), awarding body and William Hulme’s Grammar School regulations and instructions
  • To have a key role in upholding the integrity and security of the examination/assessment process

 

The role requires excellent customer service skills including effective communication skills, a confident communicator, comfortable working under pressure and multi-tasking, and who will be able to enforce regulations firmly, but fairly if necessary and to deal effectively and promptly with any problems.  Flexibility, reliability and an eye for detail are essential.

 

Experience of working in the education sector would be beneficial, but not essential.

 

Exams are taken at various times during the academic year so please note that these positions are seasonal. There are no guaranteed hours, which means you will be working on a casual ad-hoc basis.  Working days and hours are flexible.  You will need to be reliable and punctual during the exam periods and have good availability.  A professional appearance at all examinations is required.

William Hulme’s Grammar School is the second most over-subscribed school in Manchester and one of the most successful comprehensive schools in the country. WHGS is an all-through (3-18) Academy of over 1450 pupils with a wide range of abilities, ethnicities and backgrounds.

The Academy has a relatively new Sixth Form Centre, a two-form entry Primary Phase and has specialist rooms in the Secondary Phase, including fully equipped science labs, a library, ICT resource centre, music practice rooms, design, technology and art rooms.  There is also a sports hall with changing facilities, along with full kitchen and dining facilities in the Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form.
