As a Family Support Worker, you will work closely with families, staff, and external agencies to ensure the wellbeing of all our pupils. You will play a key role in:

  • Safeguarding: Supporting vulnerable children and families, acting as a key liaison with external services, and leading child protection referrals.
  • Attendance: Working with the Attendance Officer to address absenteeism, supporting families to improve attendance, and developing interventions for pupils at risk.
  • Pupil Wellbeing: Offering targeted support to families, providing guidance on parenting, and delivering tailored interventions to help children thrive both academically and emotionally.

Key responsibilities

  • Empowering families to overcome challenges and support their children’s education
  • Providing early intervention for children at risk of academic or emotional difficulties
  • Liaising with child protection teams and external agencies as necessary
  • Monitoring and evaluating the impact of interventions to ensure positive outcomes
  • Assisting in organising family learning programmes, workshops, and community events

What we’re looking for

  • Experience working with children and families, particularly in safeguarding or attendance roles
  • Strong knowledge of child development and factors affecting wellbeing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with families and agencies
  • A passion for supporting children’s wellbeing and educational outcomes
