Finance Officer

We wish to appoint a well-qualified Finance Officer to join our Bursary Team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will also work closely with the Bursar and other members of the wider team.

This is a wide-ranging role, with a focus on income collection and reconciliation, but at the same time allowing the postholder to gain a broad experience of all aspects of the finance operation. The Finance Officer joins the School at an exciting time, as we develop our analysis capabilities and seek to make greater use of systems and software to automate and streamline processes. The postholder will be instrumental in supporting the team to deliver these changes.

Candidates require excellent numerical and analytical skills, a keen attention to detail, and a strong grasp of bookkeeping and financial controls. Candidates will also require a finance qualification (or be working towards an appropriate professional qualification). The role is full-time, on site, although there may be some flexibility for the right candidate.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The School is therefore permitted to ask shortlisted applicants to declare all convictions and cautions on a self-declaration form in advance of attending an interview (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the Disclosure and Barring Service(“DBS”) filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children. The School may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants, for which all such applicants will be required to provide details of their online profile, including social media accounts, as part of their application.

Prior to employment commencing, successful applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the (“DBS”). Successful applicants will also be required to produce evidence of qualifications, identity, and the right to work in the UK. Two references will be taken up, one of which will be with the most recent employer. They will also be required to complete our Health Questionnaire.
